Special ticketing information

Valid pre-purchased tickets to the races during the 2018 Spring Racing in Sydney (8 September to 10 November) include travel to and from Royal Randwick Racecourse on:

  • Train services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
  • Special event shuttle buses
  • Regular bus services
  • Sydney Ferries services
  • Light rail services

Remember to keep your ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your ticket is valid on public transport until 04:00 the following day.

Note: an additional station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. Your event ticket does not include the access fee, so if you're travelling from these stations you'll need to pay the train station access fee.

The closest station to Royal Randwick Racecourse is Central. Shuttle buses will run direct to the Racecourse from Eddy Avenue at Central Station.

Trackwork is taking place from 02:00 Saturday 27 October to 02:00 Monday 29 October and may affect how you travel to and from Moore Park:

  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: from 08:30 until 12:30 on Saturday 27 October, buses will replace the all-stations trains between Central and Ashfield.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Bankstown
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Buses replace trains between Wyong and Hornsby.

To note: As of Sunday 30 September, the Epping to Chatswood rail line has temporarily closed for upgrades for around 7 months before Sydney Metro Northwest services begin in 2019. The new high-frequency bus service, Station Link, replaces trains between Epping and Chatswood. For more information on Station Link, visit

Express special event buses (Route32) will run to Royal Randwick Racecourse from Eddy Avenue at Central Station from 10:30 until 13:30.

Return services will run from the ATC Randwick Bus Plaza on Alison Road back to Central from 16:00 until 19:00.

Alternatively, a number of regular bus services travel between the City and Eastern Suburbs stopping along Anzac Parade and Alison Road to get you to Randwick Racecourse including routes 339, 373, 374, 376 and 377.

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a train service to Central. From Central shuttle buses will run direct to the Racecourse from Eddy Avenue. For ferry service disruption information, check travel alerts or use the Trip Planner.


From 00:30, Saturday 27 October until 06:00, Monday 29 October, buses will replace Light rail services between Central and Dulwich Hill in both directions to allow for essential trackwork. For more information, visit

Due to access constraints, buses are unable to safely stop or pick up at Capitol Square, Exhibition Centre (running towards Dulwich Hill) and Pyrmont Bay light rail stops. Customers needing to access these stops will need to do so by foot, the nearest stops are within short walking distance.

Traffic changes for CBD and South East Light Rail construction may affect how you travel. Plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling in the South East.

Taxis may enter and exit the Royal Randwick Racecourse via Oaks Drive (entry off Ascot Street from the Doncaster Avenue roundabout). Taxis are not allowed to stop on Alison Road. For details of taxi networks servicing the Sydney area visit NSW Taxi Council.


Limited car parking may be available at the infield car park and entry is off High Street. Members Private Reserved Parking is off the Abbottsford entry. Members Reserved Parking in the Infield is on the Eastern side of the road. Patrons must display their “members car park permit” at all times.

Special event clearways

Special event clearways will be in place around the racecourse on:

  • Ascot St (both sides) between Doncaster Ave and the ATC roundabout from 08:00 until 19:00
  • High St (southern side) between Anzac Pde and Gate Two Ave from 15:00 until 19:00

Clearways are strict no parking zones even for local residents and RMS Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies.
