Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including trains, buses, ferries and light rail. There is also a Travel Cap of $2.70 on Sundays.

More ways to pay

If you have an American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card which displays the contactless payment symbol, or linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and off at Opal card readers on trains, light rail and Sydney Ferries. Keep in mind if you’re travelling by bus you still need to use an Opal card. Standard (peak) Adult Opal fare pricing applies. If you consistently use the same contactless card or linked device to tap on and tap off, you may qualify for Opal daily, weekly and Sunday fare caps but no other Opal benefits apply.

Summer Holiday timetable

During the summer holidays including Christmas and New Year, Sydney trains, buses, ferries and light rail services will run to a changed timetable. Some services will run to weekend timetables on weekdays and other services, including those to major events, beaches and shopping centres, will run more frequently. Check out all the Summer Holiday timetable details and plan your trip before you travel.

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park station. Catch a train to Lidcombe for a direct service to Olympic Park from Platform Zero running every 10 minutes 00:30.

Trackwork

Trackwork is taking place from 02:00 Saturday 15 December and 02:00 Monday 17 December and may affect how you travel to and from the event:

  • T1 Western & Richmond Line: Richmond trains start and end at Olympic Park. If you’re travelling to and from the City, change at Lidcombe for a connecting train.
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line & T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield, then continue to Liverpool.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Bondi Junction and Central. Express buses will run between Bondi Junction and Central.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Sydenham.
  • Blue Mountains Line: From 02:00 until 15:20, buses replace trains between Springwood and Penrith both days.

To note: As of Sunday 30 September, the Epping to Chatswood rail line has temporarily closed for upgrades for around 7 months before Sydney Metro Northwest services begin in 2019. The new high-frequency bus service, Station Link, replaces trains between Epping and Chatswood. For more information on Station Link, visit transportnsw.info.

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. Trackwork may affect how you travel to and from the event. For the latest information, check trackwork service updates or use the Trip Planner.

Sydney Ferries services are very popular and may reach capacity especially on weekends. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Use the Trip Planner and consider the alternative public transport options available.

Qudos Bank Arena is around a 40 minute walk (3.6km) from Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue.

Due to low tide some ferry services to and from Parramatta wharf may be replaced by buses. See Parramatta Ferry low tide for the full calendar of ferry replacement services.

Note: From Wednesday 3 October, Rydalmere Wharf will be closed for around 5 months for upgrade works. A temporary bus service, Route 535, will run between Parramatta Wharf and Sydney Olympic Park Wharf via Rydalmere Wharf to connect with F3 Parramatta River ferry services.
