Event information

Up to 8,000 participants will take part in the inaugural RunWest event in a 12km and 4km fun run through some of Western Sydney’s newest developments. A finisher’s festival will be held at the redeveloped West HQ (Rooty Hill RSL) post event.

The 12km course starting from 7am will travel from the Sydney Motorsport Park across the Great Western Hwy to the new Sydney Zoo through the Western Sydney Parklands to Blacktown International Sportspark and finishing at Angus Park near West HQ. The 4km course starting from 10am will travel from Blacktown International Sportspark and also finish at Angus Park.

Road closures and special event clearway parking restrictions will be in place so the best way to get to and from the event is by public transport. Train services run regularly to nearby stations and free shuttle buses will run to connect participants between stations, car parks and the start and finish sites.

Travel on the following public transport services to and from the event is included for RunWest 2019 participants upon displaying your runners bib:

  • Train services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
  • Regular bus services and event shuttle buses
  • Sydney and Newcastle Ferries
  • Light rail services

Remember to keep your runners bib safe for your return journey or you’ll need to use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event entitlement is valid on public transport until 04:00 the following day.

Note: an additional station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. Your event ticket does not include the access fee, so if you're travelling from these stations you'll need to pay the train station access fee.

The closest station to the 12km event is Blacktown. The closest station to the 4km event is Doonside.

Trains run every 15 minutes in both directions on the T1 Western Line stopping at both Blacktown and Doonside train stations,

  • From Blacktown participants can connect with free shuttle buses running regularly from 5am to get to the start line at Sydney Motorsport Park.
  • From Doonside participants can connect with free shuttle buses running regularly from 8am to get to the start line at Blacktown International Sportspark.

After the event, return shuttle buses will run to help participants continue their trip home by train or return to their vehicles.
