Important Event Information

With large crowds expected to attend the Wanderers v Melbourne City clash at Bankwest Stadium on Friday night traffic will be heavy in the area so fans are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport as travel is included in your ticket to the game. Parramatta transport interchange is within a short 15 minute walking distance and trains and buses run regularly.

Valid pre-purchased match tickets include travel to and from Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta on the following public transport services:

  • Train services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
  • Sydney Metro services
  • Regular bus services
  • Sydney Ferries and Newcastle Ferries 
  • Sydney and Newcastle Light rail services

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you’ll need to use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on public transport until 4am the following day.

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. Your event ticket entitlements does not include the access fee.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning and run every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping to connect with train services towards Parramatta.

The closest station to Bankwest Stadium is Parramatta. Trains run every 10 to 15 minutes to Parramatta in both directions. 

The stadium is approximately 15 minutes walk from the station via Argyle St, Church St, the Riverside Walk (non-accessible route) or through Prince Alfred Square to the stadium on O'Connell St. See the Bankwest Stadium transport and walking map for more details.

Trackwork

Weeknight trackwork is taking place on Friday 22 November and may affect how you travel to and from the event:

  • T5 Cumberland Line: From 19:00 until 01:00 trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Blacktown or Granville, and between Granville and Leppington only.
  • Southern Highlands Line: From 20:00 until 02:00, buses replace trains from Moss Vale to Campbelltown. From 21:50 until 02:00, buses replace trains from Campbelltown to Moss Vale.

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. Route buses

Plenty of regular route bus services run to and from Parramatta Interchange which is within a 15 minute walking distance of Bankwest Stadium. From the interchange head down Argyle St, Church St and take either the Riverside Walk or walk through Prince Alfred Square to get to the stadium on O'Connell St. See the Bankwest Stadium transport and walking map (pdf 1.7MB) for more details.

Additional services will run on the following routes to Parramatta and return to help you get to and from the game:  

  • Route T80 between Liverpool and Parramatta Interchange
  • Route 600 between Hornsby and Parramatta Interchange
  • Route 601 between Rouse Hill and Parramatta Interchange
  • Route 606 between Winston Hills and Parramatta Interchange
  • Route M52 between Gladesville and Parramatta Interchange

Plenty of other regular bus routes also run to Parramatta and stop within walking distance of the stadium including routes 549, 550, 665, 603, 609 and 625.

The free Parramatta CBD shuttle bus (route 900) will run regularly from 8am to 7:30pm. Keep in mind this service is limited and will be busy so consider the short 10 minute walk to the stadium instead. See the Shuttle Bus Map for stop locations.

Bus diversions

Buses may be affected as roads around the stadium will close prior to full-time under the direction of NSW Police to allow crowds to safely exit the stadium.

Accessible shuttle bus

A dedicated accessible shuttle bus will run between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium for event patrons with mobility impairments or accessibility requirements.

Shuttle buses start running one hour before the start of the game and return services will run for up to one hour after full-time.

Services pick up from Argyle St just after Church St outside Parramatta Westfield and drop off on O'Connell St at the Parramatta Leagues Club.

Return services pick up from O’Connell St at Victoria Rd opposite the stadium and drop off at the Parramatta Bus Interchange.

The closest wharf to Bankwest Stadium is Parramatta Wharf. The stadium is approximately a 15 minute walk (1.2km) from Parramatta wharf.

Sydney Ferries services are very popular and may reach capacity especially on weekends. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Use the Trip Planner and consider the alternative public transport options available.

Light rail services run between Central Station and Dulwich Hill with stops at popular CBD and Inner West destinations. From Central change for a Western Line train to Parramatta.

Traffic will be heavy on roads approaching the stadium including Parramatta Rd, Church St, Victoria Rd, James Ruse Dr and Pennant Hills Rd during Friday evening peak. 

Sections of O’Connell St, Ross St and Victoria Rd around the stadium will close prior to full-time to allow crowds to safely leave the precinct. Motorists may experience delays on roads through Parramatta CBD as crowds head home.

Motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time through Parramatta CBD area and consider travelling via Parkes St, Harris St, Macarthur St and Isabella St or Victoria Rd instead to avoid the delays. 

Motorists should also exercise caution as pedestrian activity will be high on roads between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium as crowds arrive and leave the area. 

The widened M4 between Parramatta and Homebush and the new M4 Tunnels between Homebush and Haberfield allows motorists to bypass more than 50 sets of traffic lights on Parramatta Road. A distance-based toll applies. For details on the M4 upgrades, visit westconnex.com.au.

A secure taxi rank is located at Parramatta Westfield on Fitzwilliam Street.

An alternate taxi rank is located on the eastern side of Villiers St between Ross St and Victoria Rd.

Note: O’Connell St is a no-stopping zone and taxis or any other vehicles are not permitted to drop off or pick up any passengers at any time. Closures may also be in place along O'Connell St, Ross St and Victoria Rd. Attendees who are being picked up or dropped off are encouraged to pre-plan a location away from the stadium.

Attendees are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport as travel is included in their event ticket. If you have to drive to the game, plan to arrive early, car pool where possible and allow plenty of extra travel time.

The following car parks are within walking distance of the stadium. There's no public parking available at Bankwest Stadium: 

  • Justice Precinct Car Park (Hunter Street)
  • Eat Street Car Park (George Street) 
  • City Centre Car Park (George Street)
  • Riverbank Car Park (Phillip Street)
