More seats to Blue Mountains
From 1 July, train services to the Blue Mountains will have more seats on some weekend services.
Capacity will double from 4 to 8 carriages on six weekend Blue Mountains services, meaning more than 4,000 extra seats on weekends.
The changes are part of the NSW Government’s ‘More Trains, More Services’ program, an initiative to deliver extra train services to meet growing demand. Future planned improvements under this program include:
- 24 new express services between Sydney and the Blue Mountains on weekends
- New dedicated 8-car express trains to and from the Blue Mountains, cutting approximately 20 minutes on return travel times between Sydney and Katoomba
- 25,000 additional seats every week, including an extra 18,000 on weekends;
- A new weekday Sydney - Lithgow express service to increase capacity for customers travelling to and from the Blue Mountains on weekdays as well as improving journey times for Regional coach customers who interchange at Lithgow.
