Summer holiday transport

During summer holidays, especially over Christmas and New Year, trains, buses, ferries and light rail may not run as usual. However, there will still be plenty of services to cater for everyone’s needs. Please make sure to plan your trip before you travel.

Summer timetables summary

  • Sydney and Intercity trains have a changed timetable for Friday 26 January (Australia Day). Plan your trip for up-to-date travel information.

  • Sydney Harbour is always busy over the summer, plan your trip in advance and allow extra travel time.
  • From Saturday 16 December to Sunday 28 January there will be extra F1 Manly services.

  • From Monday 1 January to Monday 29 January buses replace light rail during light rail upgrade and maintenance works.
  • These are essential works being undertaken where the existing light rail line will intersect with the new CBD and South East Light Rail line. Please allow extra travel time and Plan your trip.
