Lake Macquarie On Demand service

On Demand public transport for Lake Macquarie run through Dudley, Whitebridge, Mount Hutton, Windale, Tingira Heights, Eleebana, Warners Bay, Gateshead and Charlestown areas. The service is operated by Newcastle Transport and began Sunday 14 January 2018.

The On Demand service trial runs in addition to existing regular timetabled services. An On Demand bus will pick you up near your home or a convenient nearby location, and take you to where you want to go within the On Demand area.

The trial is expected to run for 12 months. If successful, the service will be introduced to a larger area.

Hours of operation

Service is available from 9am to 4pm on weekdays, 7am to 6pm on Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday.

Bookings and fares

You can book this service:

  • over the phone by calling 1300 590 506
  • via the Newcastle Transport On Demand app (available from the App Store and from Google Play)
  • or in person at the Newcastle Transport Hub, 152 Hunter Street, Newcastle 2300.

You can pre-pay by credit card or pay cash to the driver.

There is an introductory fare of $3 per one-way trip for the duration of the trial. Concession fares will apply.

Bookings can be made up to 3 months in advance, and up to 1 minute prior to your trip. Bookings are subject to availability.
