Free travel for companions
About the Companion Card
Under the National Companion Card Scheme, your carer or companion can travel free on public transport in NSW when they travel with you. You pay your normal fare, which will depend on your concession status.
Who can get a card and how to apply
You can get a Companion Card if you need help from a carer or companion to go out and about. The NSW Department of Communities and Justice decides if you are eligible for the card. The card is free.
How to apply for a Companion Card:
- Go to the NSW Companion Card website.
- Download and fill in the application form.
- If you need a replacement card, you can use the same form. You might need to pay a fee for a new card.
For more information or help, visit NSW Companion Card website or call the information line on 1800 893 044.
If you live outside of NSW, you must apply for your Companion Card in your home state or territory. For further details, visit the National Companion Card Scheme.
