Eligibility

If you have a Pensioner Concession Card issued by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans' Affairs, you are entitled to concession fares on public transport in NSW.

You can apply for a Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card, which allows you to travel for only $2.50 a day on public transport within the Opal network.

How to apply for a Gold Opal card

  1. Select the 'Get an Opal card' button.
  2. Select the 'I want to order a Senior/Pensioner Opal card' option.
  3. Follow the prompts to order your Opal card, providing your Pensioner Concession Card details.

More information

  • Your Gold Opal card will be mailed within 5 to 7 working days.
  • You will need to activate your Opal card before travelling.
  • If your registered Opal card has been stolen or lost, report it to block your card from being used.
  • Contact Centrelink or the Department of Veteran's Affairs for a free replacement Pensioner Concession card.
