The Vision Impaired Excursion Fare provides better support to NSW residents with blindness or low vision.

For a flat rate of $2.50, customers with a NSW Vision Impaired Person’s Travel Pass can make a continuous journey across the NSW TrainLink and Opal networks.

The fare will be trialled for 12-months.

  • The Vision Impaired Excursion Fare will be available to NSW residents who hold a NSW Vision Impaired Person’s Travel Pass.
  • Under the 12-month trial, customers connecting from Sydney Trains services in the Opal network to the NSW TrainLink regional network are entitled to $2.50 fares using the Vision Impaired Excursion Fare.
  • You must carry your NSW Vision Impaired Person's Travel Pass as proof of entitlement, or you may be fined for travelling on an invalid ticket.
  • The Vision Impaired Excursion fare operates on NSW TrainLink train and coach services operating to locations where the Country Pensioner Excursion (CPE) ticket applies, as well as all Sydney trains services within the Opal network.
  • Interstate destinations (Queensland, Victoria, South Australia) are not included, unless they are considered a CPE destination.
  • CPE destinations are outlined here: Country Pensioner Excursion Map.

You can buy tickets:

  • Phone: 13 22 32
  • In person: Travel Centres or through Sales Agents.
  • Your attendant can travel with you for free if your NSW Vision Impaired Person’s Travel Pass is marked "Plus Attendant".
  • The Vision Impaired Excursion Fare does not provide travel on local metropolitan and local regional bus networks, ferries and light rail services. However, NSW Vision Impaired Person’s Travel Pass holders can use their Travel Pass as a flash pass to access free travel on Opal-enabled services and local regional bus networks.
  • If you travel with a guide dog, please refer to the travelling with an assistance animal page.
  • The trial will operate for a 12-month period from Tuesday, 23 June 2026 until Wednesday, 30 June 2027, when it will then be reviewed.
