• Discounted fares are available for eligible groups, with up to 50% off the Peak Adult fare.

Proof of eligibility requirements

• You must advise your concession number at the time of booking. This is then validated.
• You must also carry this with you when you travel. Fines apply if travelling without a valid concession card.
• NSW TrainLink will accept selected concession cards issued in your name.
• Ensure that you have a valid concession card at both the time of booking and during travel. NSW TrainLink will not allow concession fares bookings or travel with an expired card.
• Conditions: Discounts do not apply to sleeping berths or extra charges (e.g. pre-booked luggage for over-sized items).

Passengers are expected to adhere to the following conduct while using NSW TrainLink services:

• Do not put any part of your body outside any window or doorway while the service is in motion.
• Do not enter or leave the service while it is in motion.
• Do not board or leave a service that is not scheduled to pick up or set down passengers.
• Do not board or leave a service when you are not scheduled to do so.
• Always have a valid ticket and/or reservation when boarding.
• Do not occupy a sleeping berth or seat without a valid ticket and/or reservation.
• Do not board a service under the influence of alcohol, in soiled clothing, or in a manner offensive to other passengers.

Infringements

• Passengers on NSW TrainLink services are governed by the relevant laws of NSW, regardless of where the ticket was purchased or where an offence is committed. If a passenger breaches a condition of travel, NSW TrainLink reserves the right to refuse service, terminating the contract for carriage without a refund.
• If a passenger breaches any provision of the Passenger Transport (General) Regulation 2017 - NSW Legislation, staff may request police assistance to remove the passenger.
• Under the regulation, train drivers are authorised to direct that a passenger to leave the train in certain circumstances, for example where they are causing or is likely to cause, inconvenience to other passengers or to the driver of the train (whether because the person is under the influence of alcohol or another drug, or for any other reason).

1. These terms and conditions apply to travel on any public passenger service operated by (or on behalf of) NSW Trainlink (Service). By purchasing and/or accepting a ticket to travel on a Service, you accept and agree to these terms and conditions.
2. Each of the Railway Systems contracts on its own behalf for carriage of the holder on the transport services which it operates and as agents for the other Railway Systems where the transport services extend to the jurisdiction of the other Railway Systems.
3. To the fullest extent permissible by law, each Railway System shall be under no obligation or liability whatsoever to any person as a result of:
   (a) Any inaccuracy, error or misdescription contained in any travel or tour brochure; or
   (b) Any change in any ticket price; or
   (c) Withdrawal of or failure to provide any service set out in such travel or tour brochure.
4. The issuer of this ticket shall not be liable to the purchaser or the holder in the event of the loss of or theft of this ticket or if it is honoured when presented by any person other than the person named therein or if the ticket is mislaid.
5. This ticket is not transferable.
6. Each Railway System may use any mode of transport to carry the holder.
7. Each Railway System shall not be liable to the holder for loss, damage or delay caused by or arising from riot, Act of God, civil commotion, Act of terrorism, strikes, lockouts, stoppages or restraint of labour from whatever cause whether partial or general. Nor shall each Railway System be liable to the holder for loss, damage or delay caused by or arising from the failure of a Railway System to give a ticket holder notice of:
   1. the withdrawal or cancellation of any service to which the ticket holder is entitled;
   2. the occurrence of any of the events, matters or things set out in this Condition;
   3. the threat, likelihood, possibility or probability of the occurrence of any of the events, matters or things set out in this Condition.
8. Each Railway System shall not be liable for any consequences arising out of or from any variation in the time of arrival at or departure from any station or point of any train, bus or other travel service.
9. Each Railway System may in its sole discretion, without liability therefore, cancel wholly or in part any of the trains, buses or other services shown in the published timetables or vary the stations or points at which the trains, buses or other services will pick up or set down passengers.
10. Each Railway System may during any journey change the mode of transport.
11. A cancellation fee will be charged should the holder cancel this ticket:
    1. The cancellation fee on rail travel within a Railway System shall be determined according to the Railways Acts, By-Laws, Regulations and Conditions of Carriage in force within that Railway System;
    2. Any cancellation fee imposed will be deducted from the value of this ticket before a refund, if any, is given;
    3. To ensure that a ticket holder receives a maximum refund in the event that the ticket will not be used the ticket holder must give the longest possible prior notice of cancellation;
    4. Refunds will not be allowed on expired tickets.
12. NSW Trains reserves the right to refuse service to passengers and/or cancel or void a passenger’s ticket for any reason, including (without limitation) where:
    1. (a)the passenger does not hold a valid ticket (including travelling on a concessional fare to which they are not entitled);
    2. (b) the passenger’s ticket:
       1. (i) has been reported lost or stolen;
       2. (ii) has been acquired unlawfully or in breach of these terms and conditions or any other applicable laws, regulations or policies;
       3. (iii) has been acquired or purchased from someone other than NSW Trains or a licensed passenger sales agent who represents NSW Trains in the sale of tickets;
       4. (iv) is spoiled, torn or damaged or has otherwise been tampered with; or
       5. (v) is counterfeit or otherwise invalid.
    3. (c) is, or is likely to, create a disturbance on the train (including where they are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or for any other reason);
    4. (d) has clothes or belongings which are dirty and could cause damage to other passengers, their belongings or the train;
    5. (e) has items of such size and dimension that cannot be safely carried on the train;
    6. (f) is consuming alcohol they have brought onto the train;
    7. (g) is smoking;
    8. (h) is causing any damage to the train, including acts of graffiti vandalism; or
    9. (i) is threatening staff or other customers, including, but not limited to acts of violence or apprehended violence.
13. Pensioners must be in possession of a valid Pensioner Concession card issued in their name by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs (whether electronic or physical) in order to obtain a concessional fare.
14. NSW Trains reserves the right to inspect items of luggage and bags brought onto the train by the customer.
15. Train drivers and Authorised Officers employed by NSW Trains are able to give directions to customers to not enter or leave a train or railway premises for reasons including breach of these terms and conditions and/or for committing offences under Railway Legislation. Where such a direction is given the customer must comply and remain away for at least 2 hours unless the customer has a reasonable excuse. Failure to comply with a direction of Trains driver or Authorised Officer is an offence which carries a maximum penalty of $1,100.
16. NSW Trains reserves the right to contact police to remove customers who fail to comply with these terms and conditions or who are otherwise committing an offence.
17. NSW Trains advises that its staff may be using personal safety cameras on board trains which are capable of recording audio and video of any alleged incidents which may be in contravention of these terms and conditions.
18. NSW Trains will only record and use personal information to the extent necessary to process and confirm the booking, confirm payment, provide service information (including trackwork and any other changes to the service including timetable and platform details) and for marketing purposes, but, in respect of marketing, only where the customer provides their consent. For further information in relation to how NSW Trains records and uses personal information, please refer to the Privacy Policy published on the TfNSW website.
19. NSW Trains may, at any time, amend these terms and conditions or any other information referred to in these terms and conditions or on the NSW TrainLink fare rules website located at: https://transportnsw.info/regional-travel/booking-information/nsw-trainlink-fare-rules (NSW Trains Website). Any such changes will take effect when they are published on the NSW Trains Website.
