Adult and Child/Youth Opal cards are available over the counter from Opal retailers, including convenience stores and newsagents. Concession cards must be applied for online.

Free travel Opal cards allow convenient access at metro, train stations, and ferry wharves without staff. The free travel card is not mandatory, but you must always carry your proof of entitlement card with you for free travel.
