About Opal

Depending on which card you need, there are various ways to get an Opal card.

Adult and Child/Youth Opal cards are available over the counter from Opal retailers, including convenience stores and newsagents. Concession cards must be applied for online.

  • Opal card costs: The Opal card itself is free, but you will need to add value before you travel.
See top up an Opal card.
  • Opal single trip tickets: You can purchase an Opal single trip ticket from select stations, stops or wharves, however prices are higher than using an Opal card.
