Train

The train stations are located underneath the airport terminals.

The T8 Airport & South Line services run frequently to and from Sydney Domestic and Sydney International Airports, with services every day between 5am and midnight.

Finding the station

  • Domestic Station, take the lift/escalator near baggage carousel 1 in both Terminal 2 and 3.
  • International Station, from Terminal 1 Arrivals, exit at Exit A, turn right and head to the end. You can also use the lift/escalator near Check-In desk A.

Station access fee

When using train stations at Sydney Domestic Airport or Sydney International Airport, a station access fee is charged in addition to the train fare.

  • The fee is automatically deducted from your Opal card or contactless payment, and is added to the cost of an Opal Single trip ticket at time of purchase.
  • The station access fee is the same for Opal cards and contactless payments but is higher for Opal single tickets. Train fares are cheaper when using an Opal card or contactless payment.
  • The fee is charged by the Airport Link Company who privately-owns the airport stations.

Travel between airport stations

If you travel between other Airport Link train stations, including Green Square Station, Mascot Station, and the Domestic and International Airport train stations, the station access fee is a flat fee:

  • Between an airport station and Green Square: $10.78 (+ train fare)
  • Between an airport station and Mascot Station: $7.44 (+ train fare)
  • Between Sydney Domestic Airport Station and Sydney International Airport Station: $4.00 (+ train fare)

Opal benefits

Station access fees are not included in your Opal daily or weekly travel cap.

The Opal 60 minute transfer doesn't apply at Sydney Airport stations, so tapping off and on again within an hour will result in two journeys and two station access fees.

Bus

Several bus routes connect Sydney Airport with surrounding suburbs, including major destinations such as Bondi Junction, Coogee, Maroubra, Eastgardens, Mascot, Rockdale, Bexley North, Campsie and Burwood.

Route 350 bus services run frequently between the Domestic Terminal and Bondi Junction via Mascot, Maroubra and Coogee, operating at least every 10 minutes during the day, seven days a week.

Route 420 bus services run between Burwood and Mascot Station via Campsie and Rockdale, serving both the International and Domestic Terminals.

These routes operate from early morning until around midnight seven days a week.

Route N20 late night bus services run between Riverwood and the City, via the International Terminal between midnight and 4am. Route 420 also operates to and from the International Terminal during the day, between 4am and midnight.
