Country Pensioner Excursion tickets

• Booking required: You must book your trip before you travel. Bookings must be made 7 days or less before travel. If not, you will pay the regular concession fare.
• Multiple stops: You can make several stops on one ticket - including returning to place of origin - if:
  • You do not stop for more than 12 hours.
  • You complete your journey as shown on the ticket.
  • You complete your journey on the same day as you start travelling.
• Carry your concession card: You must show it to Transport staff if requested. 

CPE tickets are not valid for:

• travel in the Opal network in NSW TrainLink Intercity or Sydney Trains areas (e.g., Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle).
• travel to interstate destinations (Queensland, Victoria, South Australia).

If you wish to travel through these areas, use the half-fare entitlement with your Pensioner Concession Card or Seniors Card or use a Pensioner Travel Voucher. 

If you are only travelling within the Opal network, you can use a Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card.

You can buy tickets:

• Online: You can easily book online by following the below steps:

1. Search for a one-way or return trip (if return is within 12 hours on the same day of travel) by entering your origin, destination and travel dates.
2. Click on “Add concession/pass” and select your relevant concession type from the drop down menu (for example, “Pensioner” or “Senior”).
3. Enter your concession details. Type the number without dashes, spaces, or any letters before the number. Include the letter at the end of the number. Enter your first and family name exactly as they appear on the card.
   Example: If your card shows “CRN 1234 5678 9 A”, enter 123456789A
4. Search for available trips, choose one, and follow the prompts to issue your ticket.
5. You’ll receive your ticket by email and SMS. When travelling, show your ticket on your mobile.

• Phone: Call 13 22 32.
• In person: At train stations and sales agents outside Sydney. Find NSW TrainLink sales agents.

Note: CPE tickets cannot be purchased at stations within Sydney or the surrounding boundary area. This includes Central Station. View the boundary map (PDF, 628.3KB).

• Tickets must be booked within seven days of the date of travel.
• You need to provide your concession card number when booking and you must carry both your ticket and concession card with you during your journey.
• CPE tickets cannot be used within the area bounded by - and including - Sydney, Nowra, Moss Vale, Lithgow, Muswellbrook, Maitland, Karuah, and Bowral.
• CPE tickets cannot be used for interstate travel except for travel from and to Regional NSW and Mildura, Robinvale, Echuca, Wodonga, Cobram and Yarrawonga in Victoria.
• A CPE ticket cannot be purchased in conjunction with a concession fare to use on the same service if travel is to/from locations where CPE tickets are not permitted.
• CPE tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and no changes are allowed.
