Important Event Information
Large crowds are expected to travel to and from Bankwest Stadium during the already busy Friday evening peak.
NRL fans are strongly encouraged to catch public transport and leave the car at home to avoid the traffic delays – match tickets include travel on public transport. Trains to Parramatta run every 10 to 15 minutes and additional bus services will run for the event.
Traffic will be heavy on roads approaching Parramatta during the evening peak and surrounding car parks are expected to fill early. If you are planning on driving, plan to arrive early, car pool where possible and allow plenty of extra travel time. Motorists on their regular commute home are advised to expect delays and allow extra travel time through Parramatta.

Valid pre-purchased match tickets include travel to and from Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta on the following public transport services:
- Sydney Train services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
- Sydney Metro services
- Regular bus services
- Sydney Ferries and Newcastle Ferries
- Sydney and Newcastle Light rail services
Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you’ll need to use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on public transport until 04:00 the following day.
Note: an additional station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. Your event ticket does not include the access fee, so if you're travelling from these stations you'll need to pay the train station access fee
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains, which can quickly take you between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station on the North West Line. Change at Chatswood to connect with train services towards Parramatta.
Metro services start running from the early morning. Last services from Chatswood to Tallawong leave at 12.45am on Thursday nights and at 1.45am on Friday and Saturday nights.
On Sunday to Wednesday nights from 26 May until late 2019, will run every 10 minutes in both directions while Sydney Metro grows to full operations. The first North West Night Bus service departs Tallawong at 9.25pm and Chatswood at 10.10pm. Services will run both all-stops route and limited stops routes.
You can use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method on Sydney Metro services. You will need to use your Opal card on North West Night Bus services.
The closest station to Bankwest Stadium is Parramatta which is approximately a 15 minute walk via Argyle St, Church St, the Riverside Walk or through Prince Alfred Square to the Stadium on O'Connell St. Alternatively, make your way down Church St, George St or Phillip St then O'Connell St. Please note the Riverside Walk is not an accessible route. Trains run every 10 to 15 minutes to Parramatta in both directions.
Trackwork is taking place on Friday 31 May and may affect how you travel to and from the event:
- T1 Western Line: From 21:10, buses replace trains between Richmond and Riverstone. From 21:40, buses replace trains from Riverstone to Richmond.
- Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria. Trains run to a changed timetable between Mount Victoria and Central. Bathurst trains continue to run, to a changed timetable. Between 09:20 and 17:30, buses replace trains between Lithgow and Katoomba.
Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. Plenty of regular route bus services run to and from Parramatta Interchange which is within a 15 minute walking distance of Bankwest Stadium. From the interchange head down Argyle St, Church St and take either the Riverside Walk or walk through Prince Alfred Square to get to the stadium on O'Connell St. See the Bankwest Stadium transport and walking map (pdf 1.7MB) for more details on how to get to and from the stadium.
Additional regular route bus services from the North West, Western suburbs and the City will run to and from Parramatta.
The following routes will run services every 10 to 20 minutes to and from Parramatta between approximately 4:30pm and 11pm depending on the route:
- Route T65 between Rouse Hill and Parramatta
- Route 601 between Rouse Hill and Parramatta
- Route M60 between Castle Hill Station and Parramatta Interchange
- Route 549 between Epping and Parramatta
- Route 550 between Epping and Parramatta
Plenty of other regular bus routes also run to Parramatta and stop within walking distance of the stadium including routes T80, 549, 603, 606, 609 and 625.
The free Parramatta CBD shuttle bus (route 900) runs regularly from 8am until 8pm but keep in mind this service is limited and will be busy so consider the short 15 minute walk to the stadium instead. See the Shuttle Bus Map for stop locations.
Buses may be affected as roads around the stadium may close prior to full-time under the direction of NSW Police to allow crowds to safely exit the stadium.
Route 549 bus services will divert around O'Connell St and miss stops outside the stadium and at Parramatta Leagues Club while road closures are in place. Services will instead pick up from the stop on O'Connell St opp Harold St. Customers are advised to check bus stop signage for directions to the alternate bus stop location.

Accessible shuttle bus
An accessible shuttle bus service will operate from 5:30pm until 8pm and then 10pm until midnight between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium for patrons with accessibility or mobility needs. Services pick up from Argyle St just after Church St outside Parramatta Westfield. Services drop off at the stadium's northern car park. Return services will pick up and drop off at the same locations.

Sydney Ferries services are very popular and may reach capacity especially on weekends. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Use the Trip Planner and consider the alternative public transport options available.
Light rail services run between Central Station and Dulwich Hill with stops at popular CBD and Inner West destinations. From Central change for a Western Line train to Parramatta.
Customers are reminded that services will be busier than normal between Central and the Star while large crowds travel to and from Vivid Sydney precincts.
Traffic will be heavy on roads approaching the stadium including Parramatta Rd, Church St, Victoria Rd, James Ruse Dr and Pennant Hills Rd during evening peak.
The following roads around the stadium will close half an hour before full-time and remain closed for around an hour after the game or until crowds have cleared:
- O’Connell St from Grose St to George St
- Ross St from O’Connell St to Trott St
- Victoria Rd from O’Connell St to Villiers St
Motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time through Parramatta CBD area and consider travelling via Parkes St, Harris St, Macarthur St and Isabella St or Victoria Rd instead to avoid the delays.
If you are planning to use the Stadium's southern car park, please be patient as you will not be able to exit the car park until roads have reopened under NSW Police instruction.
Motorists should also exercise caution as pedestrian activity will be high on roads between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium as crowds arrive and leave the area.
Traffic will be heavy on roads approaching Parramatta during the evening peak and surrounding car parks are expected to fill early. Attendees are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport as travel is included in their event ticket.
If you have to drive to the game, plan to arrive early, car pool where possible and allow plenty of extra travel time.
The following car parks are within walking distance of the stadium. There's no public parking available at Bankwest Stadium:
- Justice Precinct Car Park (Hunter Street)
- Eat Street Car Park (George Street)
- City Centre Car Park (George Street)
- Riverbank Car Park (Phillip Street)

Accessible Event Shuttle bus
For patrons with mobility impairments or accessibility requirement a dedicated accessible shuttle bus will run between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium on event days.
The accessible shuttle bus service will operate from 5:30pm until 8pm and then 10pm until midnight. Services pick up and drop off on Argyle St just after Church St outside Parramatta Westfield and on O'Connell St at the Parramatta Leagues Club.
