Important travel advice

Fans are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.

Drive with your group and take advantage of the discounted parking rate of $20 when you pre-book online available until 11:59pm the night before the game. Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct so allow extra time. When catching public transport, plan ahead and allow extra time. If you're travelling from the west, trains run direct to Olympic Park. If you're travelling from the city catch a train to Auburn to connect with trains to Olympic Park.

It’s mandatory to wear a face mask when travelling on services in Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong areas from 5pm Thursday 6 May until 12.01am Monday 10 May. You can also check real-time capacity indicators when planning your trip or boarding services. Remember you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling to and from the event on public transport. Register your details via the Opal website or app ahead of time.

Additional measures and staff will be in place around Sydney Olympic Park to safely manage crowds arriving and leaving the game so please be patient, practise physical distancing while in queues and follow the directions of staff on site.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail. Receive Opal benefits including daily and weekly fare caps. 

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport services including metro, trains, buses ferries and light rail, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping to connect with train services towards Strathfield then Olympic Park.

The closest station to GIANTS Stadium is Olympic Park. Planned trackwork on the T1 Western Line and T2 Inner West & Leppington Line may affect how you travel with buses replacing trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield. From the west, trains run direct to Olympic Park.

If you're travelling from the city, T1 Western Line trains will run via the Bankstown Line. Change at Auburn for direct trains to Olympic Park.

Trackwork

From 2am Saturday 8 May until 2am Monday 10 May trackwork is taking place on the following lines:

  • T1 North Shore Line: From 10.30pm Saturday until 3.30am Sunday trains run to a changed timetable between Berowra and Hornsby. Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains are replaced by buses between Central and Wyong.
  • T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable - Check trackwork travel alerts for more detailed information 
  • T2 Inner West & South Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable - Check trackwork travel alerts for more detailed information 
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern, with extra trains running between Lidcombe and Lindfield via Sydenham.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line South Coast Line: Daily from 5.30am until 11am, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Extra trains run between Richmond and Leppington.
  • T7 Olympic Park Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Olympic Park and Lidcombe, then continue to Penrith or Leppington. If you are travelling to the City change at Lidcombe for trains via the T3 Bankstown Line. Buses replace all trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield.
  • T9 Northern Line: Extra trains run between Rhodes and the City Circle. On Saturday, from 7.30pm until 3.30am, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Epping.
  • Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Blacktown and Central. Trains from Blacktown towards Blue Mountains Line stations leave 30 minutes later than normal. Some trains between Bathurst and Lithgow also run to a changed timetable.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: On Saturday from 6pm until 3.30am, buses replace trains from Central to Wyong. From 7pm until 3.30am, buses replace trains from Wyong to Central.
  • Hunter Line: On Saturday, from 6pm until 3.45am, buses replace trains between Telarah and Newcastle Interchange.
  • South Coast Line: Daily from 5.30am until 11am, some trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville. On Saturday from 11.30am until 1pm, trains to the City make an extra stop at Mortdale.

The following Sydney buses services run to Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Strathfield via Sydney Olympic Park
  • Route 526 runs from Rhodes to Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf
  • Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde

    Sydney Ferries services are very popular and may reach capacity, especially during evening peak periods. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip ahead and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.

    GIANTS Stadium is approximately 40 minutes walk (3.6km) from Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the stadium.

    L1 Dulwich Hill light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill. L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and the L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street).

    Change at Central for trains to Auburn to connect with direct services to Olympic Park.

    Traffic may be heavier on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park including the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road as fans travel to and from the stadium.

    The widened M4 between Parramatta and Homebush and the new M4 Tunnels between Homebush and Haberfield allows motorists to bypass more than 50 sets of traffic lights on Parramatta Road. A distance-based toll applies. For details on the M4 upgrades, visit westconnex.com.au.
