Important Travel Advice

Fans are encouraged to plan ahead and consider all the available travel options. 

Trains and buses run regularly to Parramatta Station, which is a 15-minute walk from the stadium. Some buses also make stops outside the stadium on O’Connell Street. See the CommBank Stadium transport and walking route map for more details.

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

Please note that planned weeknight trackwork is taking place from 9.30pm that may affect how you travel home from the match. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner and allow extra travel time.  

  • City Circle: From 9.30pm Friday, trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard.
  • T1 Western Line: From 9.30pm Friday, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Penrith and Central. Trains from Penrith to Central run via Strathfield in that direction only. Trains from Central to Penrith run via Bankstown. Express buses replace trains from Central to Strathfield.  
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: From 9.30pm Friday, buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington or Campbelltown and Ashfield via Granville only. Trains run from Strathfield to Central in that direction only. Change at Strathfield for trains to Central, or change at Ashfield for buses towards Central. Express buses replace trains from Central to Strathfield.   

Traffic may be heavy on roads approaching and within Parramatta as attendees travel to the match in Friday evening peak. Parking in the area will be in high demand so if you're driving, plan to arrive early and allow extra travel time. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com

Roads around the stadium (pdf 672KB) will close for up to an hour after the game to allow crowds to safely leave the precinct. Be patient leaving car parks as traffic will be heavy and follow the directions of traffic controllers and Police.

If you’re travelling home by taxi or rideshare, choose a pick up location away from the stadium to avoid traffic delays. 

Keep in mind that if you’re catching buses home after the game, stops outside the stadium will be closed so buses will be using different stops nearby. Check signs and follow directions of staff.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Chatswood to connect with a train or bus service towards Parramatta.

The closest station to Commbank Stadium is Parramatta, which is within walking distance of the stadium.

The stadium is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the station. Exit via Darcy Street then continue on Church Street, the Riverside Walk (non-accessible route) or through Prince Alfred Square to the stadium on O'Connell Street. Trackwork

Planned weeknight trackwork is taking place on Friday 10 May on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.

  • Metro North West Line: From 9.30pm Friday, trackwork affecting the City Circle, T1 North Shore and T9 Northern lines may affect how you travel.
  • City Circle: From 9.30pm Friday, trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard. For travel around the City, use L2 or L3 light rail services between Central Chalmers Street and Circular Quay, or local buses. T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains continue to run between Central and Bondi Junction, stopping at Town Hall, Martin Place and Kings Cross. Trackwork also affects trains on other lines.
  • T1 North Shore Line: From 9.30pm Friday, buses replace trains between North Sydney and Wynyard. Trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and North Sydney only. T9 Northern Line trains run to a changed timetable between Berowra and Central, platforms 1-12, via Strathfield. Trains do not run between Wynyard and Central, or on the City Circle. At Wynyard, change for the light rail or local buses to continue your journey. Trackwork between Central and Strathfield may also affect how you travel.
  • T1 Western Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Monday, most trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Penrith and Central, platforms 1-12, via Strathfield. Most Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. Change at Central for T4 trains, the light rail, or local buses to continue your journey. From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Saturday, trains from Penrith to Central run via Strathfield, in that direction only. Trains from Central to Penrith run via Bankstown. Express buses replace trains from Central to Strathfield. T2 trains run between Ashfield and Leppington or Campbelltown via Granville. If you are travelling from Strathfield to T1 Western Line stations you will need to change trains at Granville. 
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Monday, buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington or Campbelltown and Ashfield via Granville only. Limited stop trains run between Strathfield and Central, platforms 1-12, except from 9.30pm Friday to 2am Saturday when trains run from Strathfield to Central, platforms 1-12, in that direction only. Change at Strathfield for trains to Central, or at Ashfield for all-stations buses towards Central. Express buses replace trains from Central to Strathfield.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: From 9.30pm Friday, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Sydenham only. T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line trains run between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, with some trains making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Saturday, extra limited stop trains run from Central to Lidcombe via Bankstown, continuing to Central via Strathfield, in that direction only.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 9.30pm Friday, all Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: From 9.30pm, some trains start and end at Central due to City Circle trackwork.
  • T9 Northern Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Monday, most trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only. Some trains may run between Hornsby and Epping only. From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Saturday, trains run between Berowra and Ashfield only. Buses replace trains between Ashfield and Central. Limited stop trains run from Strathfield to Central, platforms 1-12, in that direction only. Change at Strathfield for trains to Central, or at Ashfield for all-stations buses towards Central. Express buses replace trains from Central to Strathfield. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. Change at Central for T4 trains, the light rail, or local buses to continue your journey.
  • Blue Mountains Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Saturday, most trains run to a changed timetable between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Some late night or early morning trains start from Strathfield. T1 Western Line trains run from Penrith to Central via Strathfield, in that direction only. Trains from Central to Penrith run via Bankstown. Some trains from Blacktown towards Blue Mountains Line stations leave 30 minutes later than normal. Trains between Bathurst and Lithgow may also run to a changed timetable. If you are travelling to Lithgow to connect with NSW TrainLink Regional Coaches please call 132 232 to confirm departure times.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 2am Saturday, trains run to a changed timetable between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Change at Strathfield to continue your journey. Limited stop trains run from Strathfield to Central, platforms 1-12, in that direction only. Express buses replace trains from Central to Strathfield.

Regular Route Buses

A number of buses run to and from Parramatta Interchange, which is within a 15 minute walking distance of CommBank Stadium.

From the Interchange, head down Argyle Street, Church Street, and take either the Riverside Walk or go through Prince Alfred Square to get to the stadium on O'Connell Street. See the CommBank Stadium transport and walking map (pdf 3.9MB) for more details.

Alternatively, buses leave regularly from Stand A4 at Parramatta Interchange and make stops on O’Connell Street outside the stadium. These routes include 546, 600, 601, 603, 604, 606 and 706. All bus services are accessible.

The free Parramatta CBD shuttle bus (Route 900) runs regularly in a loop of Parramatta CBD, making stops near the stadium on O’Connell Street. This service is limited and will be busy so consider walking to the stadium instead. See the Shuttle Bus Map for stop location details.

Bus Diversions

Roads outside the stadium, including sections of O’Connell Street, Ross Street and Victoria Road, will close for up to an hour after the match to allow crowds to leave the precinct safely. 

The following bus stops will be closed and routes 549, 550, 600, 601 and 606 diverting while the road closures are in place at the end of the game. Passengers can walk to nearby alternative stops, see our road closure and transport map (pdf 672KB) (pdf 672KB) for more details.

  • Parramatta Leagues Club, O'Connell St will be closed – alternative stop O’Connell St opp Harold St (for services towards the Hills and North West)
  • Our Lady of Mercy College, O'Connell St will be closed – alternative stop O’Connell St at Fennell St (for services towards Parramatta Station)
  • Victoria Rd after Villiers St will be closed – alternative stop Victoria Rd opp All Saints Anglican Church (for services towards the city)
  • Victoria Rd before Marist Pl will be closed – alternative stop All Saints Anglican Church, Victoria Rd (for services towards Parramatta Station)

The closest wharf stop to CommBank Stadium is Parramatta Wharf. The stadium is approximately 15 minutes’ walk (1.2km) from the wharf.

Sydney Ferries services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Use the Trip Planner and consider the alternative public transport options available.

Please note, F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Change at Central to connect with T1 Western Line trains to Parramatta to get within walking distance of the stadium.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Change at Central to connect with T1 Western Line trains to Parramatta to get within walking distance of the stadium.

If you’re driving to the game, plan to arrive early as car parks in the area are expected to be in high demand. Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads approaching the stadium during the already busy evening peak. Allow extra travel time on roads including Parramatta Road, Church Street, Victoria Road, James Ruse Drive and Pennant Hills Road

Motorists should also exercise caution as pedestrian activity will be high on roads between Parramatta Interchange and the stadium. Note, traffic changes for Parramatta Light Rail may affect how you travel through Parramatta CBD. For more information visit Parramatta Light Rail.

Road Closures

Roads outside the stadium will close from 9:40pm to 10:15pm after the match to allow crowds to safely leave the venue. Roads will re-open once crowds have cleared the area. 

  • O’Connell Street between Grose Street and George Street
  • Ross Street between O’Connell Street and Trott Street
  • Victoria Road between O’Connell Street and Villiers Street

While closures are in place motorists are encouraged to avoid driving through Parramatta CBD and detour around the closures via Grose Street, Brickfield Street, Victoria Road and Wilde Avenue in both directions. See our road closure and transport map (pdf 672KB) for more details.

Roads on approach to the stadium may be temporarily closed as crowds make their way to the game.

A taxi rank is located on the eastern side of Villiers Street between Ross Street and Victoria Road.

Note: O’Connell Street is a no-stopping zone. Taxis or any other vehicles are not permitted to drop off or pick up any passengers at any time.

Attendees who are being picked up or dropped off are encouraged to pre-plan a location away from the stadium to avoid traffic delays.

Parramatta Car Parks

Fans driving to the game should allow plenty of extra travel time as parking is expected to be in high demand. 

The following car parks are within walking distance of the stadium. There's no public parking available on-site at CommBank Stadium on game days:

  • Eat Street Car Park, entry via George Street
  • Justice Precinct Car Park, entry via Hunter Street
  • Parramatta Station Car Park, entry via Wentworth Street
  • Parramatta Leagues Club, O’Connell Street at Eels Place: Note pricing for the car park is dependent on if you are a Leagues Club Member (not a Football Club Member). Visit Parra Leagues Club for more info.

Attendees with mobility impairments or accessibility requirements can catch one of the regular route bus services that leave from bus stand A4 at Parramatta Interchange and make stops on O’Connell Street outside the stadium, including routes 600, 601, 603, 604, 606 and 706.
