Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan ahead and consider all the available travel options. 

Frequent trains, buses, light rail and ferry services run regularly to Circular Quay each day to get you to and from the event site. 

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time. 

Please note that planned trackwork on the network will affect how you travel to and from Circular Quay from 10pm Friday and across the whole weekend. You may need to change transport modes to complete your journey. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time.   

  • Trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard. Use the metro, T4 trains, light rail or local bus services. 
  • T1 North Shore Line trains run between Berowra and Wynyard only. Use metro services between Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross and the City, or change at Wynyard for the light rail. 
  • Buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central at various times across the weekend.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro  services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.  

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late. 

The closest metro station to The Rocks is Barangaroo, which is approximately 12-minutes walking distance away.

On Saturday and Sunday, extra metro services run between Tallawong, the City and Sydenham.

The closest station to get you to and from the event is Circular Quay, where services run regularly each day. Alternatively, Wynyard and Martin Place stations are within short walking distance of the event site also.

Thursday 17 July  

  • T1 Western Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Parramatta and Ashfield.  
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains do not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops between Parramatta and Central, to a changed timetable. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville. Change at Lidcombe for trains towards Central. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains will not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable and frequency. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.  
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 9.40pm to 2.30am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction.  
  • T9 Northern Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and stop at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown.  
  • Blue Mountains Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central.  
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central.  
  • South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Thirroul and Sutherland. Express buses run between Wollongong, North Wollongong and Sutherland. If travelling to T4 stations or the City catch an express bus to Sutherland then change for a T4 train to continue your journey. Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Thirroul. T4 trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction. 

Friday 18 July to Sunday 20 July 

  • M1 Metro Line: From 10pm Friday, train trackwork on the City Circle and T1 North Shore Line may affect how you travel. On Saturday and Sunday, extra metro services run between Tallawong, the City and Sydenham. 
  • City Circle: From 10pm Friday, trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard. For travel around the City use the metro, T4 trains, light rail or local bus services. T4 trains continue to run between Central and Bondi Junction. Light rail services run between Central and Circular Quay. Trackwork also affects trains on other lines. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: From 10pm Friday, trains run between Berowra and Wynyard only, some to a changed timetable. Trains do not run between Wynyard and Central, or on the City Circle.  Use metro services between Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross and the City, or change at Wynyard for the light rail. Trackwork also affects trains on other lines. 
  • T1 Western Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 6am Saturday, 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday and 9.40pm Sunday to 2am Monday, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith and Strathfield, making extra stops at Flemington and Homebush. On Saturday from 6am to 5.30pm, and Sunday from 6am to 9.40pm, trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith and Central, platforms 1-14 only, and make an extra stop at Burwood. On Saturday and Sunday, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Liverpool. Change at Parramatta for trains towards the City. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 6am Saturday, from 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday and from 9.40pm Sunday to 2am Monday, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville, or between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. T1 trains run between Lidcombe and Strathfield. T9 trains run between Strathfield and Ashfield. On Saturday from 6am to 5.30pm, and Sunday from 6am to 9.40pm, buses replace Inner West Line trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Central, platforms 1-14, via Granville or Regents Park, making an extra stop at Homebush, then stopping at Strathfield, Burwood, Redfern and Central only. T9 trains run between Strathfield and Ashfield, making extra stops at Burwood and Croydon. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. Change at Central for metro, light rail or local bus services to continue your journey. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 9.30pm Friday to 6am Saturday, from 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday and from 9.40pm Sunday to 2am Monday, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington or Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. T1 trains run between Lidcombe and Strathfield. T9 trains run between Strathfield and Ashfield. On Saturday from 6am to 5.30pm, and Sunday from 6am to 9.40pm, buses replace Inner West Line trains between Strathfield and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Central, platforms 1-14, via Regents Park, making an extra stop at Homebush, then stopping at Strathfield, Burwood, Redfern and Central only.   • T5 Cumberland Line: On Saturday and Sunday, trains may run to a changed timetable. Extra trains run between Richmond and Liverpool. 
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: On Saturday and Sunday, trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.  
  • T8 Airport Line: From 10pm Friday to 1.30am Saturday, trains via the Airport start and end at Central due to City Circle trackwork. T8 trains do not run between Sydenham and the City. T4 trains run between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, and make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. On Saturday and Sunday, trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central only, via the Airport. Most Macarthur trains run between Macarthur and Sydenham only.  Change at Revesby for trains to Airport stations or change at Sydenham for T4 trains towards Bondi Junction, or metro services to the City.  Early morning and late-night trains run between Macarthur and Central via the Airport. T8 trains do not run between Sydenham and the City. T4 trains run between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, and make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. Change at Central for metro, light rail or local bus services to continue your journey. 
  • T9 Northern Line: From 9.50pm Friday to 6am Saturday, from 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday and from 9.40pm Sunday to 2am Monday, trains run between Hornsby and Ashfield only. Buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. On Saturday from 6am to 5.30pm, and Sunday from 6am to 9.40pm, trains run between Hornsby and Ashfield only. Express trains run between Strathfield and Central. Change at Epping for metro services to the City or change at Strathfield for express buses or trains to Central. Remain on the train if travelling to Burwood, Croydon or Ashfield. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. Change at Central for metro, light rail or local bus services to continue your journey. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: From 9.50pm Friday to 6am Saturday, 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday and 9.40pm Sunday to 2am Monday, trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Change trains at Blacktown to continue your journey. Buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. On Saturday from 6am to 5.30pm, and Sunday from 6am to 9.40pm, trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Central to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. On Saturday, the 5.52pm Central to Bathurst service will leave Central at 5.38pm, 14 minutes earlier than the normal timetable. Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. Change at Central for metro, light rail or local bus services to continue your journey. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: From 9.50pm Friday to 6am Saturday, from 5.30pm Saturday to 6am Sunday and from 9.40pm Sunday to 2am Monday, trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only. Buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central. Change at Epping for metro services to the City or change at Strathfield for express buses to Central. On Saturday from 6am to 5.30pm, and Sunday from 6am to 9.40pm, trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Central to a changed timetable. On Saturday from 7am to 10.30am, trains towards Hornsby will not stop at Cowan. Buses run from Hawkesbury River to Cowan, and from Cowan to Berowra, in that direction only. Change at Hawkesbury River for a bus to Cowan. From Cowan, catch a bus to Berowra then change for a train to continue your journey. Trains towards Gosford continue to stop at Cowan. 
  • South Coast Line: On Friday, buses replace trains between Thirroul and Sutherland. Express buses run between Wollongong, North Wollongong and Sutherland. If travelling to T4 stations or the City catch an express bus to Sutherland then change for a T4 train to continue your journey. Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Thirroul. T4 trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction. On Saturday from 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto. T4 trains run between Sutherland and Bondi Junction. On Sunday from 2.30am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong.  Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. The 2.39am Kiama to Bondi Junction service will run up to 14 minutes earlier than the normal timetable from Kiama to Coniston, then run to the normal timetable from Wollongong to Bondi Junction.

Ferry services are a popular way to travel to Circular Quay, particularly on weekends. Keep this is mind if you are planning to catch a ferry service. Allow extra travel time or consider the alternative transport options available, including buses, trains and light rail services.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

At Central, connect with L2 or L3 Line light rail services to Circular Quay. Alternatively, change for a train to Circular Quay on the City Circle.  

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Catch an L2 or L3 Line light rail service to Circular Quay to get to the event.  

Train Trackwork – Friday 18 July to Sunday 20 July 

  • Please note that planned trackwork on the City Circle and T1 North Shore Line may affect how you travel. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.   
  • Trains do not run between Central and Wynyard, or on the City Circle. Use light rail services to Wynyard and Circular Quay.  
  • For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Wynyard or use metro services. 
  • On Saturday and Sunday, daily from 7am to 7pm, extra L2 and L3 light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Central from Parramatta Station. From Central, connect with trains or change for a L2 or L3 light rail services to Circular Quay. 

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads in the city and around Circular Quay, particularly during the evening peak. Allow additional travel time.  

Trams are running between in the CBD so pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution around the tram tracks and cross at designated pedestrian crossings.

  • Sydney Opera House Wilson car park on Macquarie Street
  • Reiby Place Gateway Plaza Car park
