Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Please note that due to planned weekend trackwork, buses replace T7 Line trains between Lidcombe and Olympic Park. You will need to catch a replacement bus to complete your journey. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you need to drive, pre-book parking to guarantee a car space. - available until 11:59pm the night before the event

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the match. Allow plenty of extra travel time on roads and plan your trip before leaving home. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

The M1 North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.

Please note that due to planned weekend trackwork, buses replace T7 Line trains between Lidcombe and Olympic Park. Change at Epping or Central for a train to Lidcombe where you can connect with a replacement bus to complete your journey. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Extra metro services also run due to train trackwork on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line. Change at: 

  • Gadigal for express buses from Town Hall to Bondi Junction  
  • Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or towards Hurstville 
  • Sydenham for all-stations buses towards Hurstville

Trackwork

Trackwork is taking place on Saturday 10 January on the following lines and may affect how you travel. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.

  • M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Extra metro services run due to train trackwork on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line. Change at Gadigal for express buses from Town Hall to Bondi Junction, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or towards Hurstville or Sydenham for all-stations buses towards Hurstville 
  • T1 Western Line: Richmond trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Richmond and Liverpool. Change at Parramatta for trains towards the City. From 9.40pm to 2.30am Sunday, buses replace trains between Penrith and Blacktown. Trains run to a changed timetable between Blacktown and the City. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City via Granville or Regents Park. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City via Regents Park. You may need to changed trains to continue your journey. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Hurstville, Central and Bondi Junction. Replacement buses do not leave from Martin Place stations, use metro services. Trains run to a changed timetable between Waterfall, Cronulla and Hurstville. If travelling to the Airport change at Central for a T8 Airport train if you have luggage or accessibility needs. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Some early morning and late-night trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Richmond. 
  • T7 Olympic Park Line: Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace T8 trains between Sydenham and Central, and T4 trains between Hurstville and Central. Trains run to the normal timetable between Macarthur, Revesby and the City via the Airport. Metro services continue to run between Sydenham and Tallawong. Trackwork on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra and South Coast lines may also affect how you travel. From Airport stations, change at: Central for buses towards Bondi Junction, or express buses towards Illawarra and South Coast Line stations or Wolli Creek for all-stations buses between Redfern and Hurstville. If you have luggage or accessibility needs change at Central. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: From 10pm to 2.30am, buses replace trains between Penrith and Blacktown. Trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Penrith only, some to a changed timetable. T1 trains run between Blacktown and Central. 
  • South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Hurstville, Central and Bondi Junction. Trains run between South Coast Line stations and Hurstville only.  
  • Southern Highlands Line: From 4.40am to 4.50pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown. T8 trains run between Campbelltown and Central via the Airport

The following Sydney buses services run to Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park via Newington.  
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.  
  • Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Qudos Bank Arena is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park but services are popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you're planning on catching a F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available. 

Please note, F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Change at Central for a train to Lidcombe where you can connect with a replacement bus to Olympic Park. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Change at Central for a train to Lidcombe where you can connect with a replacement bus to Olympic Park. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Planned Trackwork - Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 January

  • On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 January, L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services will not run due to planned trackwork and maintenance works.
  • During this time, use alternative transport including L4 replacement bus services, trains, regular bus services or walking if able to between Westmead and Carlingford.

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Lidcombe where you can connect with a replacement bus to Olympic Park. 

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park as attendees travel to and from the match. Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road. 

If you have to drive, carpool with your group, pre-book your parking ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.

To get to your carpark and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout, use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road.

Road Closures

Sydney Olympic Park Authority may close local roads in the precinct and traffic congestion is expected before and after the event. For road closure details, visit the Sydney Olympic Park Authority interactive map.

The nearest Taxi Rank is Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel.

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads may be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event.

When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the stadium to avoid delays.

Visit Sydney Olympic Park - Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.  

If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time.

Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout. Traffic delays are expected after the match as attendees leave the precinct.  

If you haven’t pre-booked, follow the variable message signs within Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking. Traffic delays are expected after the event as attendees leave the precinct.
