Fans are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.
The closest station to the stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. The stadium is a short walk from the station.
Free shuttle buses will also run from Newcastle CBD, Charlestown/Belmont, Glendale, Wallsend and Mayfield to McDonald Jones Stadium before and after the game.
Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.
If you’re driving, travel with your group and pre-book stadium parking via Ticketmaster or use nearby local parking. Traffic may be heavier than usual as fans travel to and from the game. Allow extra travel time, you can find real-time updates on traffic conditions livetraffic.com.
Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.
At Epping or Central, connect with a Central Coast & Newcastle Line train to Broadmeadow.

The closest station to McDonald Jones Stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. From the station, the stadium is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk away (1.5km).
Trackwork
Planned trackwork is taking place on Sunday 26 April on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.
- T1 Western Line: Trains do not run between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith and Olympic Park, and between Rhodes and the City. Change at Olympic Park for: express buses to Rhodes, then change for trains towards Strathfield or the City or buses to Flemington and Homebush. Rail replacement buses do not leave from Lidcombe. Richmond trains run between Richmond and Liverpool. Change trains to continue your journey towards the City.
- T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Trains do not run between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park, and between Rhodes or Ashfield and the City. Change at Olympic Park for: express buses to Rhodes, then change for trains towards Strathfield or the City, or
buses to Flemington and Homebush. Rail replacement buses do not leave from Lidcombe.
Trains also run between Glenfield and the City via the Airport. - T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Trains do not run between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between: Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville, Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park, Rhodes and the City (limited stops) or Ashfield and the City (all-stations). Change at Olympic Park for: express buses to Rhodes, then change for trains towards Strathfield or the City or buses to Flemington and Homebush. Rail replacement buses do not leave from Lidcombe. Change at Glenfield for trains to the City via the Airport.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: from 8pm to Monday 12pm, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Waterfall and the City Circle, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Change at: Sydenham or Central for metro services to Martin Place, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.
- T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.
- T7 Olympic Park Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Olympic Park and Lidcombe, continuing to Penrith or Leppington.
- T8 Airport & South Line: From 8.40am to 3pm, buses replace the all-stations trains between Wolli Creek and Revesby. Express trains continue to run but will not stop at stations between Padstow and Turrella.
- Blue Mountains Line: Trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Change at Penrith for express buses to Strathfield. T1 Western Line trains run between Penrith, Blacktown and Olympic Park only. Trains from Blacktown to Blue Mountains Line stations run 30 minutes later than normal.
- South Coast Line: From 8pm to Monday 12pm, trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Hurstville only. T4 Illawarra Line trains run to a changed timetable between Hurstville and the City Circle. Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Change at: Hurstville for T4 trains towards the City, Sydenham or Central for metro services to Martin Place, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.

Stadium shuttle buses
Catch one of the five stadium shuttle services to get to Knights games at McDonald Jones Stadium, free for match ticketholders.
Services will run at regular intervals from selected bus stops from approx. two hours prior to kick-off. Return services will run for around half an hour after full time.
- Stadium Shuttle 1 – Newcastle CBD: Stops at Queens Wharf, King Street at Bolton Street, Civic Park, Marketown, and Tudor Street at Beaumont Street.
- Stadium Shuttle 2 – Charlestown/Belmont: Stops at Charlestown Square and Westfield Kotara. Two services will start from Belmont on the Pacific Highway at Macquarie Street, also stopping on Pacific Highway at Groves Road.
- Stadium Shuttle 3 – Glendale: Stops at Stockland Glendale, Cardiff Station, and Lookout Road at McCaffrey Drive.
- Stadium Shuttle 4 – Wallsend: Stops at Wallsend Village, Newcastle Road at Blue Gum Road, and Newcastle Road at Dent Street.
- Stadium Shuttle 5 – Mayfield: Stops at Wests Mayfield, Mayfield shops, Waratah Station, and Waratah Village

Regular route buses
The closest bus stops to McDonald Jones Stadium are on Turton Road and Lambton Road. Regular routes 13, 23, 25, 26 and 27 run towards the stadium. Check Newcastle Transport for more bus network information.

Ferries run between Stockton and Queens Wharf approximately every 20 minutes.
At Queens Wharf, change for a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange then connect with trains to Broadmeadow. Alternatively, from King Street near Perkins Street, you can catch a route 13 bus to Lambton Road to get within short walking distance of the stadium.

Newcastle Light Rail services run from 5am to 1am daily between Newcastle Interchange in Wickham and Pacific Park in Newcastle East. With six convenient stops, it’s easy to get around Newcastle’s city centre and connect with train, bus and ferry services.
Catch a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange and change for a train to Broadmeadow, where the stadium is within short walking distance.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the stadium as fans travel to and from the match. Carpool with your group and allow extra travel time on roads including Turton Road and Griffiths Road.
For passenger drop-offs, use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.

Drop-off zone: use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.
