Fans are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.

L1 Dulwich Hill line light rail services run between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill. Catch the L1 light rail service to the Leichhardt North stop, which is a short walk to Leichhardt Oval via Mary Street.

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you're driving allow extra travel time for parking as traffic may be heavier than usual in evening peak. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late. 

Change at Central to connect with L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services to Leichhardt North.

The best station for connections to Leichhardt Oval is Central. Change at Central for light rail services or buses running towards Leichhardt.  

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Thursday 23 April on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • T1 Western Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Parramatta and Ashfield
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains do not run. T1 Western or T9 Northern Line trains make extra stops at some stations between Parramatta and Central, to a changed timetable. Trains run between Leppington and Olympic Park. Change at Lidcombe for trains towards the City. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains do not run. T1 Western or T9 Northern Line trains make extra stops at some stations between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change at Lidcombe for trains towards the City. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains between Sydenham and the City Circle run to a changed timetable.
  • T9 Northern Line: From 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and stop at all stations between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Friday buses replace the 01:47 Central to Newcastle Interchange service from Central to Hornsby. Replacement buses leave Central at 1.21am, 26 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable.
  • South Coast Line: From 9.20am to 2.10pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong. Buses towards Wollongong may leave stations up to 15 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable. From 10pm to 1.30am, trains run between South Coast Line stations and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable.

A number or regular bus services make stops within walking distance of Leichhardt Oval, including routes 440, 437, 445 and 470.

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay. From here, change for a train to Central where you can connect with L1 Dulwich Hill light rail services towards Leichhardt from the Grand Concourse.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Catch the L1 Line light rail service to Leichhardt North, which is a short walk to the oval via Mary Street.  

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using the Trip Planner

From Central, change to the L1 Line light rail service leaving from the Grand Concourse to get to Leichhardt North, which is a short walk to the oval via Mary Street.  

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Central from Parramatta Station. From Central, change to an L1 Line service leaving from the Grand Concourse to get to Leichhardt North.  

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Leichhardt Oval as fans travel to the match. Allow extra travel time on roads including James Street, Perry Street, Balmain Road, Mary Street and Glover Street.  

A section of Mary Street will close before the game and will reopen when crowds have cleared the area. Traffic will be detoured via Chapel Street while the closure is in place.

There are no designated taxi ranks available at Leichhardt Oval. The best location for drop off is Mary Street and for pick up is Perry Street.

Attendees are encouraged to plan to arrive early as local parking around the stadium is limited.
