Important Travel Advice
Ticketholders are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.
Race day tickets include travel on all public transport modes. Simply show your ticket or ATC members card to transport staff when boarding services.
Light rail services run regularly to Royal Randwick on the L2 Line or to Kensington on the L3 Line, which is within short walking distance of the racecourse.
Light rail maintenance work - Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April
- Due to planned maintenance L2 and L3 services will not run between Circular Quay and Central, and L1 Dulwich Hill Line services will not run on the entire line.
- Use trains between Central and Circular Quay and rail replacement buses between Dulwich Hill and Central.

If you’re driving, there’s parking on-site at the racecourse. If you’re using taxis or rideshare, use the dedicated drop-off areas available.

Event ticket entitlements
Valid pre-purchased tickets to Autumn Carnival 2026 race days at Randwick Racecourse include travel to and from Royal Randwick Racecourse on the following transport services – just show your event ticket or ATC members card to transport staff when boarding:
- Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
- Sydney Buses
- Sydney Metro services.
- Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle Light Rail services
- Sydney and Newcastle Ferries
Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day.
Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.
Transport Park&Ride Car Parks
Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services.
Tickets to Autumn Carnival 2026 race days at Randwick Racecourse include travel on transport and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.
If you use a Transport Connect account to access Park&Ride, the boom gate will automatically open as you leave the car park so you’ll need to request a refund in your account.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.
M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Planned Trackwork – Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 April
- Metro services will not operate between Sydenham and Chatswood
- Use train services between Chatswood, the City and Sydenham
- For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses
- Metro services run between Tallawong and Chatswood.
Change at Central to connect with light rail services to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or to Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line.

Trackwork
Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Saturday 18 April on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
- M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Metro services will not operate between Sydenham and Chatswood. Use train services between Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses. Metro services run between Tallawong and Chatswood.
- T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- T1 Western Line: Buses replace trains between Penrith, Richmond and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable between Granville and the City. Buses also run between some T1 Western Line stations and Tallawong.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Waterfall and the City Circle, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Change at: Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or at Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. From Martin Place Station, buses leave from nearby bus stops, or you can walk to Wynyard Station for trains to T4 Illawarra Line stations. Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Richmond and Granville. T2 trains run to the normal timetable between Leppington and the City.
- T9 Northern Line: Metro trackwork may affect how you travel
- Blue Mountains Line: Buses replace trains between Penrith and Granville. T1 trains run between Granville and the City. Trains from Penrith to Blue Mountains stations run up to 45 minutes later than the normal timetable. Bathurst trains run between Bathurst and Lithgow only, some to a changed timetable. The 07:40 Bathurst to Central and 17:51 Central to Bathurst services continue to run between Bathurst and Central, to a changed timetable.
- Central Coast & Newcastle Line: From 8.30pm to Sunday 6am, buses replace trains from Newcastle Interchange to Gosford. From 8.15pm to Sunday 5am, buses replace trains from Gosford to Newcastle Interchange. Trains run between Gosford and Central, to a changed timetable.
- South Coast Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Hurstville only. T4 Illawarra Line trains run to a changed timetable between Hurstville and the City Circle. Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction, but do not stop at Martin Place. Change at: Hurstville for T4 trains towards the City, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. From Martin Place Station, buses leave from nearby bus stops, or you can walk to Wynyard Station for trains to T4 Illawarra Line stations. Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. From 7.30am to 11.30am, at Waterfall and Helensburgh, all trains leave from platform 1. From 12pm to 4pm, at Helensburgh and Waterfall, all trains leave from platform 2.

A number of regular Sydney Buses travel between the city and eastern suburbs via Anzac Parade and Alison Road, making stops near the racecourse, including routes 339, 374, 375 and 396.
Bus Stop Closure – 9am to 7pm

Route 399: Darley Road opposite Randwick TAFE (Stop ID 203144) will be closed for services travelling towards Clovelly. Use Centennial Park Main Gate, Darley Road (Stop ID 203145) instead.

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a train to Central to connect with light rail to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line
Due to planned maintenance L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services will not operate on Saturday 18 April. Replacement buses run between Central and Dulwich Hill. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). The Royal Randwick stop is located on Alison Road just across from the racecourse. The Kensington stop is located on Anzac Parade, a short walk from the racecourse entry on Ascot Street.

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Central from Parramatta Station. From Central, catch a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line to get within walking distance of the racecourse.
Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads around racecourse. If you have to drive or are using taxis or rideshare, allow additional travel time. You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.
Trams are running between the CBD and South East so pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution around the tram tracks and cross at designated pedestrian crossings.
The right-turn bay into Randwick Racecourse gate 1 on Alison Road (eastbound) will be closed.

Racecourse parking
There is free parking in the Infield car park on-site, entry via High Street opposite UNSW.
Members Private Reserved Parking is available in the multi-deck car park, entry via Ascot Street. Patrons must display their “members car park permit” at all times.
Special Event Clearways
Special event clearways will be in place at the following times and locations:
- 4am – 7pm: Darley Road between Alison Road and the Grand Drive roundabout (western side)
- 8am – 7pm: Ascot Street between Doncaster Avenue and the roundabout at the entry to Randwick Racecourse (both sides)
- 3pm – 7pm: High Street between Gate Two Avenue and Anzac Parade (southern side)
Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and TfNSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.

Accessible parking: Disabled car parking is available in the Infield car park, entry via High Street opposite UNSW. A disabled parking sticker must be prominently displayed in the vehicle at all times.
