Step into the heart of the Blue Mountains and experience the extraordinary magic of Katoomba’s Winter Magic Festival – a vibrant, one-day celebration unlike any other. As the winter solstice casts its spell on the shortest day of each year, the streets of Katoomba transform into a dazzling showcase of artistry, creativity, and joy. The community comes together to celebrate the unique spirit found only in the enchanting Blue Mountains.
Traffic is expected to be busy on approaches to the festival including the Great Western Highway. Consider taking public transport or if you must drive, allow extra travel time.
Parke Street will be closed between Great Western Highway and Bathurst Road during the event from 8am until 8pm. Additional local road closures will be in place during the event.
Victoria Pass on Great Western Highway remains closed. Attendees using the detour via Chifley Rd and Darling Causeway should allow additional travel time.

Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.
Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping for trains to Strathfield to connect with Blue Mountain line services.

The closest station to the festival is Katoomba on the Blue Mountains Line. The festival site is a short walk from the station.
During the closure of Victoria Pass on Great Western Highway, Sydney Trains is running additional train services to and from the Blue Mountains.
NSW TrainLink has 2 fully accessible coaches running temporary, free turn-up-and-go services daily between Bathurst and Katoomba from 7am.
These free services will travel in both directions and stop at Katoomba, Blackheath, Mt Victoria, Lithgow and Bathurst train stations.

There is no parking available at the festival site. If you have to drive, you can park at nearby areas Mt Victoria, Blackheath, and Medlow Bath or Woodford, Hazelbrook, Lawson, Bullaburra, Wentworth Falls & Leura.
