Important Travel Advice

Up to 50,000 footy fans are expected to travel to Accor Stadium on Sunday 27 September to see the Penrith Panthers take on the Newcastle Knights in the NRL preliminary final blockbuster. 

Attendees are urged to leave the car at home and use public transport to avoid traffic delays and the high demand for parking. Extra services will run and the cost of travel is included with your match ticket – simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding. 

Transport: 

  • Match tickets include travel on all modes of public transport, making public transport the easiest way to get there. Simply show your match ticket to transport staff when boarding services. 
  • Additional trains will run to help get you there get you there with frequent return services after the match. Trains also run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late. From Olympic Park station, the stadium is a short 10-minute walk away. See the Olympic Park Transport Map to find your way. 
  • Please note that this event will not run Major Event Buses.

If you to drive, pre-book your parking: 

  • Pre-book your parking online to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $40 parking fee applies. 
  • Carpool with your group and allow plenty of extra travel time. Traffic will be heavy approaching the precinct and entering car parks. Plan your trip before leaving home – you can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com. 
  • If you have pre-booked parking, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. 
  • After the match, traffic will be very heavy as everyone leaves at the same time. Expect to allow up to an hour of additional travel time exiting car parks. 
  • You can also consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing your trip by train to Olympic Park, at no extra cost. 

If you're getting dropped off/picked up or catching rideshare and taxis: 

  • Taxi ranks are located on Herb Elliott Avenue.
  • After the match, demand for taxis and rideshare will be high and prices are likely to be surging. Avoid the traffic delays while roads are closed by considering catching a train or bus outside of the precinct to connect with your ride faster. 

Match Ticket Entitlements

Valid pre-purchased tickets to 2026 NRL Preliminary Final at Accor Stadium on Sunday 27 September includes travel to and from Sydney Olympic Park on the following transport services. Just show your event ticket to Transport staff when boarding services: 

  • Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (non-booked services bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
  • Sydney Metro services
  • Sydney metropolitan and outer metropolitan buses
  • Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle Light Rail services
  • Sydney and Newcastle Ferries

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on trains until 4am the following day. 

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services.

Tickets to 2026 NRL Preliminary Final at Accor Stadium on Sunday 27 September includes travel on transport and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.

If you use a Transport Connect account to access Park&Ride, the boom gate will automatically open as you leave the car park so you’ll need to request a refund in your account.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

Trackwork – Sunday 27 September

  • Metro services will not run between Chatswood and Sydenham due to planned maintenance and testing.
  • Services run between Tallawong and Chatswood only.
  • Use trains services between Chatswood and Sydenham.

Change at Epping for trains towards Olympic Park.

The closest station to Accor Stadium is Olympic Park.

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Sunday 27 September on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner. 

  • M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Metro services do not run between Chatswood and Sydenham. Services run between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use train services between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
  • T1 Western Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park.
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City via Regents Park. Change at Cabramatta for buses to Canley Vale, Fairfield, Yennora, Guildford and Merrylands, or Lidcombe for trains towards Granville or T1 Western Line stations.
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City. You may need to change trains if travelling to Inner West stations.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Granville. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City via Regents Park, and between Schofields and Olympic Park. Change at; Lidcombe for trains towards Schofields or Leppington; or Cabramatta or Granville for buses to Canley Vale, Fairfield, Yennora, Guildford or Merrylands. Trains also run between Schofields and Olympic Park.
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.
  • T9 Northern Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
  • Blue Mountains Line: Some trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Blacktown and Lidcombe. Some trains between Bathurst and Lithgow also run to a changed timetable.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
  • South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. Buses do not run to the train timetable. If connecting with trains at Wollongong, you may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection. From 7.30am to 11.30am, at Scarborough, Wombarra and Coledale, all trains leave from platform 1. From 12pm to 4pm, at Coledale, Wombarra and Scarborough, all trains leave from platform 2. Sydney Metro trackwork may also affect how you travel.

The following route buses run towards Olympic Park: 

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Lidcombe. Connect with trains/replacement buses to continue your trip to Olympic Park. 
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf. 
  • Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Accor Stadium is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf. 

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available. 

F3 Parramatta River ferries may be affected by low tide between Parramatta and Rydalmere and replaced by buses. Check for updates here (pdf 77KB).

L1 Dulwich Hill Line 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner. 

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.  

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park.

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner. 

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Lidcombe, then Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.   

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

With thousands of fans expected, traffic will be heavier than usual on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park. Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road. 

Consider catching public transport or parking at a nearby station commuter carpark and continuing your trip by train to Olympic Park to avoid traffic delays. Match tickets include travel on public transport.

Road Closures

The nearest Taxi Rank is on Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel. 

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads will be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event. 

When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the stadium to avoid delays

Olympic Park Car Parks

Visit Sydney Olympic Park – Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the game, available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. Parking will be in high demand with up to 50,000 fans expected. A flat rate $40 parking fee will apply.  

Alternatively, consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing the trip to Olympic Park by train. Match tickets include travel on public transport.

Train Station Commuter Parking 

A number of key train stations have large commuter car parks, so consider parking at a station near you then continuing your journey by train to Olympic Park. 

  • T1 Western Line: Seven Hills, Blacktown, Rooty Hill, St Marys, Emu Plains and Penrith.
  • T1 North Shore & T9 Northern Line: Gordon, Thornleigh and Concord West.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sutherland and Kogarah.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Padstow, Revesby, Fairfield, Warwick Farm, Glenfield, Holsworthy, Macarthur, Campbelltown and Leumeah.
