Everest Carnival: Everest Day

Event ticket entitlements

Valid pre-purchased tickets to Everest Carnival 2026 at Randwick Racecourse between 19 September and 7 November (inclusive) include travel to and from Royal Randwick Racecourse on the following transport services – just show your event ticket or ATC Members card to transport staff when boarding: 

• Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations) 
• Sydney Buses 
• Sydney Metro services. 
• Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle Light Rail services 
• Sydney and Newcastle Ferries 

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day. 

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements. 

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks 

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services. 

Tickets to Everest Carnival race days at Royal Randwick Racecourse include travel on transport and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.

Change at Central to connect with light rail services to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or to Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line.

The closest station to Royal Randwick Racecourse is Central.  

Change at Central for a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 Line leaving from Chalmers Street. Alternatively, catch a L3 Line service to Kensington to get within walking distance of the racecourse. See the Randwick Racecourse transport map (pdf 456KB) for more information. 

Trackwork 

Planned trackwork is taking place on Saturday 17 October on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner. 

• T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 9.30am to 1pm, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Homebush and the City only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. T1 Western and T2 Leppington Line trains run between Lidcombe and the City. 
• T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 3am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Sutherland and Bondi Junction.
• T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.
• T9 Northern Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains make an extra stop at Ashfield
• South Coast Line: From 3am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Waterfall only. T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line trains run between Sutherland and Bondi Junction.

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. A number of regular Sydney Buses travel between the city and eastern suburbs via Anzac Parade and Alison Road, making stops near the racecourse, including routes 339, 373, 374, 375 and 396. 

Shuttle buses will also run between the racecourse and Central from 5.30pm. Pick-up from Australian Turf Club, Alison Road (203142) and drop-off at Central Station, Foveaux St, Stand F (201039).

Bus Stop Closure – 9am to 8pm 

• Route 339: Darley Road opposite Randwick TAFE (203144) will be closed from 9am to *pm on Saturday 17 October. Use the bus stop Centennial Park Main Gate, Darley Road (203145) instead.

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or to Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner. 

At Central, connect with L2 or L3 Line light rail services to Royal Randwick or Kensington stops (leaving from Chalmers Street) to get within walking distance of the racecourse.  See the Randwick Racecourse transport map (pdf 456KB) to find your way.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using the Trip Planner. 

Catch a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line to get within walking distance of the racecourse. 

• Additional L2 services will run between Central Chalmers Street and Royal Randwick. 
• The Royal Randwick stop is located on Alison Road just across from the racecourse. 
• The Kensington stop is located on Anzac Parade, a short walk from the racecourse entry on Ascot Street. 
• With large crowds expected, there will be queues for light rail services before and after the race. Be patient and allow extra travel time.

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner. 

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Central from Parramatta Station. From Central, catch a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line to get within walking distance of the racecourse. 

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads around racecourse as large crowds travel to and from the event. If you have to drive or are using taxis or rideshare, allow additional travel time. You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

The right-turn bay into Randwick Racecourse gate 1 on Alison Road (eastbound) will be closed.

Trams are running between the CBD and South East so pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution around the tram tracks and cross at designated pedestrian crossings.

Taxis, rideshare and hire cars are not permitted to stop on Alison Road, Ascot Street or Doncaster Avenue. 

Taxis

Taxi entry to Royal Randwick Racecourse is via the Ascot Street entrance where there is a secure taxi rank for drop-offs and pick-ups.

Rideshare

Dedicated drop-off and pick-up points are available at the below locations. Geofencing will also be in place around the racecourse precinct.

• Darley Road between Alison Road and Darley Road roundabout (western side), and bus plaza at Randwick Racecourse (off Alison Road).
• Bowral Street between Doncaster Avenue and 10 Bowral Street (southern side)
• Bus plaza on Alison Road at the front of Royal Randwick Racecourse – access via slip road from Alison Road or Darley Road

Hire Cars

• Hire cars will be directed to enter via Gate 1 from Alison Road for drop-offs/pick-up. Managed access will be in place; drivers must follow the directions of traffic controllers on site.

Rideshare restrictions

There will be restrictions on rideshare pick up locations from 3pm to 8pm due to expected heavy traffic in the area before, during and after the event. Pick-ups on the below sections of roads will be restricted during this time. You will need to select a pick-up location away from the racecourse.

• Alison Road between Doncaster Avenue and Wansey Road (both directions)
• Ascot Street between Anzac Parade and entry to Royal Randwick (both directions)
• Doncaster Avenue between Goodwood Street and Anzac Parade (both directions)
• Triangle between Darley Road, King Street and John Street – around Ampol station

Parking

There is free parking in the Infield car park on-site, entry via High Street opposite UNSW.

Members Private Reserved Parking is available in the multi-deck car park, entry via Ascot Street. Patrons must display their “members car park permit” at all times.

Special Event Clearways

Special event clearways will be in place at the following times and locations:

• 4am – 7pm: Darley Road between Alison Road and the Grand Drive roundabout (western side)
• 8am – 7pm: Ascot Street between Doncaster Avenue and the roundabout at the entry to Randwick Racecourse (both sides) and Bowral Street between Doncaster Avenue and Building No.10 Bowral Street (southern side)
• 3pm – 7pm: High Street between UNSW Gate Two Avenue and Anzac Parade (southern side)

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.

Parking

Accessible parking: Disabled car parking is available in the Infield car park, entry via High Street opposite UNSW. A disabled parking sticker must be prominently displayed in the vehicle at all times.
