How to close your account via Opal Travel app

The Opal Travel app features two distinct account types:

  • Opal account: Used for managing Opal cards.
  • Transport Connect account: Necessary for registering a contactless debit/credit card used for travel.

To close either account:

  1. Access the More section of the app
  2. Select your desired account ("Opal" or "Transport Connect")
  3. And then tap on Close my account. Simply follow the prompts provided to submit your closure request.

Alternatively, if you want to close your account outside the app, follow these steps:

How to close your account online

  • Go to https://connect.transportnsw.info/request-help
  • Sign in using your Transport Connect account credentials.
  • Navigate to the Help & Support tab and choose Transport Connect from the options.
  • Click on Create a help ticket
  • From the dropdown menu, choose Enquiry as the request type.
  • Select General Transport Connect as the service from the dropdown menu.
  • Select Request account closure as the subject from the dropdown menu.
  • Choose the Account closure reason from the dropdown.
  • Finally, click on Submit button to send your account closure request.

  1. Go to https://transportnsw.info/contact-us/feedback/apps-feedback
  2. Select Enquiry from the Type of feedback drop down menu.
  3. Select Opal Travel from the available options.
  4. Select Other from Relating to drop down menu.
  5. In the Description of feedback section, please include your request to close your Opal account along with your account username and account email address.
  6. Fill in other information as necessary.
  7. Click on Send button to submit your request.
