Important Travel Advice

Heavy traffic is expected over the weekend of the show as thousands of attendees travel to the event, allow plenty of extra travel time. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com

Trains run regularly to Clarendon Station on the T1 Richmond Line and Hawkesbury Showground is a short two-minute walk from station. 

Please note that planned weekend trackwork will affect how you travel to and from the event. If you’re travelling to Sunday’s show before 11am, you will need to catch a replacement bus from Blacktown (until 8.45am) or Schofields (from 8.45am). Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device. Register your details online at Opal or via the app ahead of time. 

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.  

From Sunday 4 August 2024, six new Sydney Metro stations will open, and turn-up-and-go metro services will extend from Chatswood through the Sydney CBD to Sydenham on the M1 Line. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night.

  • If you’re travelling to the event on Saturday, change at Chatswood (not Epping) for a train to Central to connect with a T1 Richmond Line train to Clarendon. 
  • If you’re travelling to the event on Sunday, change at Central for a train towards Clarendon. Please note that if you are planning to arrive before 11am, you will need to catch a replacement bus from Blacktown (until 8.45am) or Schofields (from 8.45am).

The closest station to Hawkesbury Showground is Clarendon which is on the T1 Richmond Line and is a short walk to the event site.

Trackwork

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • Metro North West Line: Trackwork on the T9 Northern Line may affect how you travel. On Saturday, change at Chatswood, not Epping, for trains to the City. On Sunday, remain on the metro if travelling to the City.  
  • T1 North Shore Line: Buses replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby. Trains run between Hornsby and the City, some to a changed timetable. Trackwork on the T9 Northern and Central Coast & Newcastle lines may also affect how you travel. 
  • T1 Western Line: Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Liverpool. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey. On Sunday from 5.50am to 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown and from 8.45am to 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields. Trains run between Blacktown or Schofields and Liverpool. 
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable. 
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Sydenham only, some to a changed timetable. T4 trains run between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Daily from 8am and 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: On Sunday, from 5.50am to 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown. From 8.45am to 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields. Trains run between Blacktown or Schofields and Leppington, some to a changed timetable. 
  • T7 Olympic Park: Trains run between Olympic Park and Strathfield, continuing to T1 North Shore Line stations. Trains will not run between Lidcombe and Olympic Park. Change at Strathfield, not Lidcombe, for trains to Olympic Park. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Strathfield and the City. On Saturday, change at Epping for metro services to Chatswood, then change for a T1 North Shore Line train to the City.On Sunday, change at Epping for metro services to the City. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Most trains run to a changed timetable between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Change trains at Blacktown to continue your journey. Some early morning trains will run around the City Circle. Bathurst trains run between Bathurst and Strathfield. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Hornsby. T1 North Shore Line trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and the City. Buses also replace trains on the Hunter and T9 Northern lines.   
  • Hunter Line: Buses replace trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange. Buses also replace trains on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.  
  • South Coast Line: Trains run between South Coast Line stations and Bondi Junction or the City Circle. 
  • Southern Highlands Line: Trains run between Southern Highlands Line stations and Campbelltown only. Change trains at Campbelltown to continue your journey.

Limited bus options are available within walking distance of the event site. Train train services are the best way to get to the event, however planned weekend trackwork will affect how you travel. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 6am to 11pm daily, and until midnight on Fridays. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Change at Central for train services towards Clarendon on the T1 Richmond Line.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using  Trip Planner.

Change at Central for train services towards Clarendon on the T1 Richmond Line.

Traffic is expected to be heavier than usual on approach to Hawkesbury Showground especially along Richmond Road, Windsor Road, Hawkesbury Valley Way and The Northern Road. 

If you’re driving, consider travelling with your group and allow extra travel time as delays are expected.

There is on site vehicle parking, including dedicated disabled parking. Please note that there will be changed traffic conditions on surrounding roads and into the showground with traffic controllers on site to assist direct and manage traffic.
