Fans are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.

L1 Dulwich Hill line light rail services run between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill. Catch the L1 light rail service to the Leichhardt North stop, which is a short walk to Leichhardt Oval via Mary Street.

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. 

Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. 

Change at Central to connect with L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services to Leichardt North.

Trackwork

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Thursday 12 September on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:  

  • M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: From 9.50pm to 1.30am, trackwork on the T4 Eastern Suburbs Line may affect how you travel. Buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place. Change at: Gadigal for express buses from Town Hall to Bondi Junction Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or trains towards T4 Illawarra and South Coast Line stations
  • T1 Western Line: From 10pm to 4.10am, buses replace trains between Emu Plains and Blacktown. Trains run between Blacktown and the City, some to a changed timetable.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run to a changed timetable between Waterfall or Cronulla and North Sydney. Change at Sydenham or Central for metro services to Martin Place, Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction
  • Blue Mountains Line: From 10.50pm to 2am, buses replace the following trains between Springwood and Blacktown: 9:30pm Lithgow to Central, 10:18pm Central to Lithgow. Trains run to a changed timetable between Lithgow and Springwood, and between Blacktown and Central.The 11:18pm and 12:18am Central to Mount Victoria trains continue to run, but to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
  • South Coast Line: From 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction. Trackwork buses do not leave from Martin Place Station. Trains run between South Coast Line stations and the City Circle. Change at Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff or Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction.

A number or regular bus services make stops within walking distance of Leichhardt Oval, including routes 440, 437, 445 and 470.

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a train service to Central to connect with light rail or buses towards Leichhardt.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines 

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using the Trip Planner

From Central, change to the L1 Line light rail service leaving from the Grand Concourse to get to Leichhardt North, which is a short walk to the oval via Mary Street.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Leichhardt Oval as fans travel to the match during Thursday evening peak. Allow extra travel time on roads including James Street, Perry Street, Balmain Road, Mary Street and Glover Street.  

A section of Mary Street will close before the game and will reopen when crowds have cleared the area. Traffic will be detoured via Chapel Street while the closure is in place.

There are no designated taxi ranks available at Leichhardt Oval. The best location for drop off is Mary Street and for pick up is Perry Street.

Attendees are encouraged to plan to arrive early as local parking around the stadium is limited.
