Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. Extra metro services will run due to train trackwork on the T4 and South Coast lines. 

Change at Central to connect with replacement buses to Wollongong. 

• Trackwork – South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Central. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable. Catch rail replacement buses to Wollongong to reach the stadium.

The closest station to WIN Stadium is Wollongong on the South Coast Line however weekend trackwork is taking place across most of the line. 

• Trackwork – South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Central. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable. 
• Catch rail replacement buses to Wollongong to reach the stadium. Allow extra travel time and plan ahead using the Trip Planner. 

The venue is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the station via Burelli Street. Alternatively, you can catch the free Gong Shuttle from Crown Street, which stops near the stadium.   

Trackwork  

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Saturday 28 June on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner. 

• M1 Metro Line: Extra metro services run due to train trackwork on the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines. 
• T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, Leppington trains do not stop at Ashfield. You may need to change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey. 
• T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Homebush and the City only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. T1 and T2 trains run between Lidcombe and the City.
• T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Cronulla, Waterfall and Central. Some buses start and end at Redfern. Trains run between Central and Bondi Junction, to a changed timetable. 
• T5 Cumberland Line: from 11am to 4pm, trains may run to a changed timetable with some services leaving stations Parramatta to Seven Hills earlier than the normal timetable. 
• T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Bankstown and Lidcombe.
• T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Sydenham and Central. Trains run to the normal timetable between Macarthur, Revesby and the City via the Airport. Trackwork on the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines may also affect how you travel. Change at: Central for trains towards Bondi Junction, or buses to Illawarra and South Coast Line stations, or at Wolli Creek for all-stations buses to T4 Illawarra Line stations. If you have luggage or accessibility needs change at Central.
• South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Central. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable.

Regular bus routes stop within walking distance of WIN Stadium, including routes 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 31, 33, 34, 35, 37, 39, 90 and 92.  

A number of regular bus routes make stops along Corrimal Street and Burelli Street to get you within walking distance of WIN Stadium.  

You can also catch a 'Free Gong Shuttle' (routes 55A and 55C) that operates regularly on weekdays and the weekend. The shuttle runs in both directions on a loop from Wollongong Station to Wollongong University via Wollongong Hospital, Burelli Street and the Innovation Campus. L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly, plan your trip using Trip Planner. 

Change at Central to connect with replacement buses to Wollongong. 

• Trackwork – South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Central. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable. Catch rail replacement buses to Wollongong to reach the stadium. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner. 

Alight at Parramatta Square and catch a train service from Parramatta Station to Redfern or Central where you can connect with South Coast Line rail replacement bus services to Wollongong.  

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the Wollongong CBD and on local roads around WIN Stadium as fans travel to and from the match. Local roads around the stadium may close to help crowds move safely around the area. Plan to arrive early to secure parking and allow extra travel time.   

Fans travelling to the game on the freeway are encouraged to use the Masters Road exit to avoid congestion at Mount Ousley Road, both in and out of Wollongong.

Taxi Rank

A taxi rank is located across the road from WIN Stadium outside the Steelers Club on Burelli Street. There is also an additional taxi rank located adjacent the WIN Entertainment Centre on the corner of Crown & Harbour Streets.

Secure taxi ranks are located on Corrimal Street, and on the corner of Crown and Kembla Streets.

Drop-Off Zone

A drop off zone is available on Burelli Street between Harbour and Corrimal Street.
