Important Travel Advice

Moore Park will be very busy on Sunday with an AFL and NRL game kicking off within an hour of each other and finishing at the same time at neighbouring venues, the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium.

With more than 50,000 fans expected in the precinct, ticketholders are urged to catch public transport and leave the car at home to avoid heavy traffic and high demand for parking.

Transport

  • Travel on all modes of public transport is included in your ticket to the game, simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services.
  • Trains and metro services run regularly to the city where you can connect with frequent light rail services to Moore Park. Plenty of regular route buses also make stops along Anzac Pde and Oxford St nearby.
  • Additional light rail services will run to and from Moore Park, the light rail stop is located a short walk across from the stadium.
  • Make a day of it and plan to arrive early - there are plenty of local venues to enjoy pre- and post-game.
  • With both the AFL and NRL matches finishing at around 3.50pm, long queues are expected for transport services as everyone leaves at the same time. Extra light rail services and shuttle buses will be running to get everyone home, but fans are reminded to be patient and follow directions of transport staff, or to consider walking back to Central to avoid wait times for transport services.
  • See the Moore Park transport and walking route map (pdf 550KB) to find your way.
  • Please note that due to planned trackwork, buses replace trains between Sydenham, Central and Bondi Junction. If you’re travelling from the south, change at Sydenham for metro services to Central to connect with light rail to Moore Park. Extra metro services will be running.

Driving

  • If you must drive, expect traffic delays on roads approaching Moore Park and allow plenty of extra travel time. Carpool with your group and find real-time updates on traffic conditions atlivetraffic.com.
  • Parking will be in high demand so plan to arrive early to secure a space as availability is very limited. Grass car parks on Driver Avenue will open from 10.15am and parking is available at the Entertainment Quarter 24 hours a day. Limited parking will also be available at Sydney Boys and Sydney Girls high schools, and at Moore Park Golf Course. Flat rate event parking fees apply.
  • Have a back-up plan in case car parks are full when you arrive. Car parks are expected to reach capacity by the time the AFL kicks off at 1.10pm. Consider parking at a station near you and continuing your trip to Moore Park on public transport.
