Important Travel Advice

Sydney Olympic Park will be very busy with more than 70,000 Ed Sheeran fans also travelling to the precinct on Saturday for a concert at neighbouring Accor Stadium. 

Attendees are urged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station. Additional express trains will be running between Central, key western line stations and Olympic Park. 

You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you need to drive, it is essential you pre-book parking to guarantee a car space as parking will be in very high demand - available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

The M1 North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.

Change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park.  

Additional metro services will operate, with services running every 7 minutes

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park.  

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.

Trackwork

Trackwork is taking place on Saturday 14 February on the following lines and may affect how you travel. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.

  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Homebush and the City only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. T1 Western and T2 Leppington trains run between Lidcombe and the City. 
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes. 
  • T9 Northern Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains make extra stops at Ashfield. 
  • South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Central or Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. Buses do not run to the train timetable. If connecting with trains at Wollongong you may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection 
  • Southern Highlands Line: From 4.40am to 4.50pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown. T8 Airport & South Line trains run between Campbelltown and the City via the Airport.

The following Sydney buses services run to Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park via Newington.  
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.  
  • Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.  

Bus diversions 

Route 525, 526 and 533 services will divert while and miss stops while road closures are in place in the precinct for the major Ed Sheeran concerts. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

From 1am Friday 13 February to 3am Monday 16 February 

  • Route 525 and 526 services in both directions will be diverting via Edwin Flack Avenue, Sarah Durack Avenue and Australia Avenue, and will miss stops on Dawn Fraser Avenue and Park Street. Catch these services from the stop on Park Street at Olympic Park train station or other alternative stop locations on Edwin Flack Avenue.   

From 5pm Friday 13 February to 1am Saturday 14 February, then from 4pm Saturday 14 February to 1am Sunday 15 February, then from 4pm Sunday 15 February to 1am Monday 16 February 

  • Route 533 services in both directions will be diverting via Hill Road, Pondage Link, Edwin Flack Avenue, Sarah Durack Avenue and Australia Avenue, and will miss stops on Holker Busway. Allow extra time and check signs at stops for alternate stop locations. 

From 7am to 8:30am, then from 3pm to 4:15pm, on Friday 13 February 

  • School routes 665, 760 and 761 services in both directions will be diverting via Edwin Flack Avenue, Sarah Durack Avenue and Australia Avenue, and will miss stops on Dawn Fraser Avenue and Park Street. Catch these services from the stop on Park Street at Olympic Park train station or other alternative stop locations on Edwin Flack Avenue.

The closest wharf to Qudos Bank Arena is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park but services are popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you're planning on catching a F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available. 

Please note, F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park.  

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Road Closures

Major roads in Sydney Olympic Park will close to accommodate increased public transport services and ensure pedestrian safety during major events including Ed Sheeran from 13 – 15 February. For road closure details, visit the Sydney Olympic Park Authority interactive map.

If you're getting dropped off/picked up or catching rideshare and taxis: 

  • The nearest Taxi Rank is Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel.
  • If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads will be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event.
  • Demand for taxis and rideshare will be high and prices are likely to be surging. Avoid the traffic delays while roads are closed by considering catching a train or bus outside of the precinct to connect with your ride faster. 
  • An accessible pick-up and drop-off area will be located at the corner of Dawn Fraser Avenue and Edwin Flack Boulevard.

Olympic Park car parks

With more than 70,000 Ed Sheeran fans also travelling to the precinct on Saturday parking will be in high demand and is expected to sell out in advance.  

If you must drive it’s essential to pre-book your parking online as parking will be in high demand and is expected to sell out before the event – pre-booking online is available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out. 

If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time.  

Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout. Traffic delays are expected after the event as attendees leave the precinct. 

If you haven’t pre-booked, follow the variable message signs within Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking. 

Train Station Commuter Parking 

A number of key train stations have large commuter car parks, so consider parking at a station near you then catching one of the extra trains to Olympic Park. 

Stations with large car parks on the western line where you can change for a frequent direct train to Olympic Park include: 

  • T1 Western Line: Seven Hills, Blacktown, Emu Plains, Rooty Hill, St Marys and Penrith. 

Stations with large car parks on other train lines that require one interchange by train to get to Olympic Park include: 

  • T1 North Shore & T9 Northern Line: Gordon, Thornleigh and Concord West. 
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Fairfield, Warwick Farm, Leppington and Edmonson Park.  
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sutherland and Kogarah. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Padstow, Revesby, Glenfield, Holsworthy, Macarthur, Campbelltown and Leumeah. 

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks
