Important Travel Advice

Ticketholders are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.  

Sydney Olympic Park will be very busy on Saturday with more than 50,000 people attending other events in the precinct, including an AFL and NRL match, and a concert. Supanova ticketholders are urged to consider using public transport or to pre-book parking to secure a space. 

Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station. 

You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time. 

Please note that M1 Metro Line services will not run on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June on the entire line between Tallawong and Sydenham. Replacement buses run between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

If you have to drive, travel with your group and pre-book your parking online – available until 11:59pm the night before the event.  

Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the event, particularly in peak travel times and while other events take place. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late. 

Trackwork – Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 June 

  • Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.
  • Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.
  • For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern.
  • Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham 

Change at Central to connect with express trains to Olympic Park from 1pm. Alternative, change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park .

The closest station to Sydney Showground is Olympic Park.

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.

On Saturday & Sunday, the following additional trains will run:  

  • Express trains will run between Central and Olympic Park every 20 minutes from 1pm to 12am – stopping at Redfern, Strathfield then Olympic Park.
  • Leaving Liverpool at 6.05pm – stopping all stations to Granville, Lidcombe, then Olympic Park.

Trackwork 

There is no planned trackwork taking place on Friday 19 June, however planned trackwork is taking place on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 June on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 June

  • M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham
  • City Circle: Trains do not run around the City Circle but continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard. For travel to Circular Quay, St James or Museum use light rail, local buses or walk. Trackwork also affects trains on other lines
  • T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
  • T1 Western Line: Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Central, platforms 1-14 only. Penrith trains make an extra stop at Ashfield
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between: Macarthur and Central, platforms 1-14 via Granville, and between Homebush and North Sydney. Macarthur trains do not stop at Ashfield. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Saturday from 1pm to 12am, Inner West trains run to a changed timetable between Olympic Park and North Sydney. City Circle trackwork may also affect how you travel.
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Liverpool or Homebush and North Sydney. Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. City Circle trackwork may also affect how you travel.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Saturday from 3am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Sutherland and Bondi Junction. Trackwork on other lines may also affect how you travel.
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield. Trains run between Glenfield and Central via Granville, and between Liverpool and Schofields or Richmond, some to a changed timetable.  You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Glenfield, Sydenham and Central via the Airport. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Macarthur and Central, platforms 1-14 via Granville or Regents Park, and between Sydenham and Bondi Junction. City Circle trackwork may also affect how you travel.
  • T9 Northern Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
  • South Coast Line: Saturday from 3am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, and T4 Illawarra trains run between Sutherland and Bondi Junction. Sunday from 2.30am to 12pm, buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Port Kembla and Wollongong. Trains run between Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. The 02:39 Kiama to Bondi Junction service will run up to 20 minutes earlier than the normal timetable from Kiama to Coniston, then run to the normal timetable from Wollongong to Bondi Junction.
  • Southern Highlands Line: The following trains leave Central earlier than the normal timetable: The 16:06 Central to Moss Vale service leaves Central at 15:43, and the 17:55 Central to Goulburn service leaves Central at 17:28

The following Sydney buses services run to Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Strathfield via Sydney Olympic Park.
    • NOTE from Sunday 21 June: Route 525 services will run to Lidcombe only. Connect with trains to continue your trip to Olympic Park.
  • Route 526 runs from the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf to Olympic Park.
  • Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Sydney Showground is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf. 

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.

F3 Parramatta River ferries may be affected by low tide between Parramatta and Rydalmere and replaced by buses. Check for updates here

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. On Saturday an Sunday, you can connect with direct express trains to Olympic Park from Central from 1pm.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park. On Saturday an Sunday, you can connect with direct express trains to Olympic Park from Central from 1pm.

Train and Metro trackwork to note: On Saturday and Sunday, City Circle and Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. Trains do not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay but continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard. Use light rail services to Circular Quay. As well Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Daily from 7am to 7pm, extra L2 and L3 light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.  

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road. 

If you have to drive, carpool with your group pre-book your parking online ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.  

Road Closures

The nearest Taxi Rank is on Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel.

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads may be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event.

When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the Showgrounds to avoid delays.

Parking will be in high demand with more than 50,000 people attending various events in the precinct on Saturday 20 June. 

Visit Sydney Olympic Park – Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event, available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.  

Alternatively, consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing the trip to Olympic Park by train. You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.   

If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time.

Train Station Commuter Parking  

A number of key train stations have large commuter car parks, so consider parking at a station near you then continuing your journey by train to Olympic Park.  

  • T1 Western Line: Seven Hills, Blacktown, Rooty Hill, St Marys, Emu Plains and Penrith.
  • T1 North Shore & T9 Northern Line: Gordon, Thornleigh and Concord West.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sutherland and Kogarah.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Padstow, Revesby, Fairfield, Warwick Farm, Glenfield, Holsworthy, Macarthur, Campbelltown and Leumeah.  

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks  

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services.
