Important Travel Advice
Sydney football fans can come together at the free live site in Cathy Freeman Park, Sydney Olympic Park to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup Australia men's matches live on the big screen.
Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station. Early morning services will run from 4am on Saturday 20 June ahead of the 5am kick off.
You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.
If you have to drive, carpool with your group and pre-book your parking online ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.
Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct as attendees travel to and from the precinct. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.
Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
The M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.
Change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park.

Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.
Sat 20 June:
- Additional early morning trains between Lidcombe and Olympic Park will run from 4am on Saturday 20 June.
- T3 Liverpool Line - departs Liverpool 3:47am, stopping all stations to Lidcombe (4:13am arrival time) continues to the City.
- T1 Western Line- departs Penrith 3:45am, all station to Parramatta (4:21am departure time), Harris Park, Granville, Clyde, Auburn then Lidcombe (4:32am arrival time) continues to the City.
- T2 Leppington Line -departs Macarthur 3:28am stopping all stations to Glenfield, all stations to Granville (4:19am departure time) followed by Auburn and Lidcombe (4:26am arrival time) continues to the City.
- Newcastle interchange (departure time 1:48am) stopping Hamilton, Broadmeadow, all stations to Berowra (3:54am departure time), Hornsby (4:04am departure time), then Strathfield (4:31am arrival time).

- M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: Metro services will not run between Central and Sydenham. Services run between Tallawong and Martin Place, and between Martin Place and Central only. Change at Martin Place for metro services towards Tallawong or Central, or T4 trains to Sydenham. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern.
- T1 North Shore Line: Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Milsons Point, also stopping at Crows Nest and Victoria Cross metro stations. Use metro services between Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross and the City. Some late night buses run between T1 North Shore Line stations and Wynyard.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- T9 Northern Line: Trains run between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-14 only. If travelling to
:T1 North Shore Line stations, change at Epping or Central for metro services to Victoria Cross, Crows Nest or Chatswood, then change for a bus. - Blue Mountains Line: From 9.30am to 4.30pm, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Katoomba. From 10.30am to 5pm, buses replace trains from Katoomba to Lithgow. Trains run to a changed timetable between Katoomba and
Central. - South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Central or Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. Buses do not run to the train timetable. If connecting with trains at Wollongong you may need to catch an earlier bus to ensure you meet your train connection. Saturday 20 June

- City Circle: Trains do not run around the City Circle but continue to run between Central and Wynyard. For travel to Circular Quay, St James or Museum use light rail, local buses or walk. Trackwork also affects trains on other lines
- T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- T1 Western Line: Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Central, platforms 1-14 only. Penrith trains make an extra stop at Ashfield
- T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between: Macarthur and Central, platforms 1-14 via Granville, Homebush and North Sydney. Macarthur trains do not stop at Ashfield. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Saturday from 1pm to 12am, Inner West trains run to a changed timetable between Olympic Park and North Sydney. City Circle trackwork may also affect how you travel.
- T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Liverpool or Homebush and North Sydney. Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey. City Circle trackwork may also affect how you travel.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Saturday from 3am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla, Sutherland and Bondi Junction. Trackwork on other lines may also affect how you travel.
- T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield. Trains run between Glenfield and Central via Granville, and between Liverpool and Schofields or Richmond, some to a changed timetable. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
- T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.
- T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Glenfield, Sydenham and Central via the Airport. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Macarthur and Central, platforms 1-14 via Granville or Regents Park, and between Sydenham and Bondi Junction. From the Airport, change at Central for trains to T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra or South Coast Line stations, not Wolli Creek. City Circle trackwork may also affect how you travel.
- T9 Northern Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel. For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Hornsby, not Epping
- South Coast Line: From 3am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland. Trains run to a changed timetable between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, and T4 Illawarra trains run between Sutherland and Bondi Junction. The first train to South Coast Line stations leaves Bondi Junction at 10:13, Wollongong at 12:08, arriving Kiama at 12:52.
- Southern Highlands Line: The following trains leave Central earlier than the normal timetable: The 16:06 Central to Moss Vale service leaves Central at 15:43, and the 17:55 Central to Goulburn service leaves Central at 17:28

The following Sydney bus services run to Olympic Park:
- Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park via Newington.
- NOTE from Sunday 21 June route 525 services will run to Lidcombe only, change for trains to continue your trip to Olympic Park
- Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.
- Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Cathy Freeman Park is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.
F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.
Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

You can pre-book parking online to secure a space ahead of time, available until 11.59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.
If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry.
If you haven’t pre-booked, follow the variable message signs within Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking.
Train Station Commuter Parking
A number of key train stations have large commuter car parks, so consider parking at a station near you then continuing your journey by train to Olympic Park.
- T1 Western Line: Seven Hills, Blacktown, Rooty Hill, St Marys, Emu Plains and Penrith.
- T1 North Shore & T9 Northern Line: Gordon, Thornleigh and Concord West.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sutherland and Kogarah.
- T8 Airport & South Line: Padstow, Revesby, Fairfield, Warwick Farm, Glenfield, Holsworthy, Macarthur, Campbelltown and Leumeah.
