Brooklyn Ferry services join the Opal network

From Thursday 21 August, the Brooklyn Ferry route that operates between Brooklyn Wharf, Little Wobby Wharf and Dangar Island Wharf is joining the Opal network to make ticketing easier and more affordable for passengers.

The cost of a Brooklyn Ferry ride will now be at least 30 per cent cheaper for adult, child and concession fares while tickets for seniors or pensioners with a valid Gold Opal card will go from $5.50 to just $2.50.

Due to the isolated locations of Little Wobby Wharf and Dangar Island Wharf, a single Opal reader will be located at Brooklyn Ferry Wharf.

How to pay your fare:

  • Travel from Brooklyn Wharf: Tap on the Opal reader when boarding. No need to tap off when disembarking at Little Wobby or Dangar Island.
  • Travel from Little Wobby or Dangar Island: Tap off on the Opal reader when disembarking at Brooklyn Wharf. No need to tap on when boarding at these wharves.

Passengers traveling from or to Brooklyn Ferry Wharf will be charged a single fare when they tap the Opal reader with either their Opal card or contactless credit card, debit card or linked device.

The existing Brooklyn Ferry route and timetable will remain unchanged. For more information see how Opal fares work or plan your trip.
