Getting to the new Sydney Fish Markets
Public transport is the easiest way to reach the new Sydney Fish Market, opening Monday 19 January.
Wentworth Park is the closest light rail stop on the L1 Dulwich Hill Line, located approximately 400 metres from the new market.
The Fish Market light rail stop will be renamed Bank Street, as it is not the closest stop to the new Sydney Fish Market.
In anticipation of a projected six million visitors a year and with longer opening hours, we have boosted capacity on the L1 Dulwich Hill Line with 150 extra weekly services added.
The uplift means services run every six minutes on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays between 10am and 7pm. Evening services also increased to every 10 minutes from 7pm to 9pm Sunday to Thursday, and between 7pm and 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights. These improved services ensure customers can travel easily to the new Sydney Fish Market and throughout the Inner West.
Existing bus routes 389 and 501 serving Pyrmont and Ultimo will continue to provide access to the new Sydney Fish Market. These services operate along Harris Street and bus stops are just a 400 metre walk from the new Sydney Fish Market.
Parking at the new market will be limited and traffic may be heavy during the opening period, so visitors should expect delays.
Shoppers planning to buy seafood are encouraged to bring an esky or chiller bag to keep purchases fresh on the journey home.
