New ways to pay for seniors and pensioners
Seniors and pensioners eligible for Gold Opal fares now have a new way to pay.
From 10am Tuesday 28 July, eligible seniors and pensioners can connect their concession online and choose to tap on and tap off with a credit card, debit card or linked digital device and still pay a discounted concession fare.
Seniors and pensioners need to sign up to Transport Connect and link a credit or debit card to their seniors card or Pensioner Concession Card to enjoy discounted fares with their payment card or device.
This exciting new ticket option is now available for most Concession and Gold Senior/Pensioner fare types. This new way to pay is optional, and you can choose between a physical Opal card, or a credit/debit card to pay the discounted fare you are eligible for.
Always tap on and tap off with the same card or device for each trip to pay the correct fare and unlock free trips, transfer discounts and cheaper off-peak travel. If you use the same bank card but tap on with your phone then tap off with your watch, you may be incorrectly charged. Learn more about tapping on and off.
