Important Event Information

With Parramatta transport interchange within a short 15 minute walking distance the best way to get to and from Bankwest Stadium is by public transport as match tickets include return travel. Trains to Parramatta run every 10 to 15 minutes and additional bus services will be running.

See the Bankwest Stadium transport and walking map (pdf 1.7MB) for more details on how to get to and from the stadium.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including trains, buses, ferries and light rail. There is also a Travel Cap of $2.80 on Sundays.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled debit or credit card or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on metro, train, light rail and ferry services, and coming soon to bus services, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start running from the early morning. Change at Epping to connect with train services towards Parramatta.

On Sunday to Wednesday nights until late 2019, the late night North West Night Bus service will run frequent all-stops and limited stops services from Tallawong at 9.25pm and from Chatswood at 10.10pm while Sydney Metro grows to full operations.

You can use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method on Sydney Metro services. You will need to use your Opal card on North West Night Bus services.

For Metro service disruption information, check trackwork and travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

The closest station to Bankwest Stadium is Parramatta. Trains run every 10 to 15 minutes to Parramatta in both directions.

The stadium is approximately 15 minutes walk from the station via Argyle St, Church St, the Riverside Walk (non-accessible route) or through Prince Alfred Square to the stadium on O'Connell St. See the Bankwest Stadium transport and walking map (pdf 1.7MB) for more details.

Trackwork

Trackwork is taking place from 02:00 Saturday 28 September until 02:00 Monday 30 September and may affect how you travel to and from the event:

  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Homebush trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Sydenham and Campsie, continuing to Bankstown.
  • South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong.

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. Trackwork may affect how you travel so allow extra travel time and plan ahead. For the latest information, check travel alerts and trackwork or use the Trip Planner.

Route buses

Plenty of regular route bus services run to and from Parramatta Interchange which is within a 15 minute walking distance of Bankwest Stadium including route 549, 550, 600, 601, 609, 625, 665 and T80. From the interchange head down Argyle St, Church St and take either the Riverside Walk or walk through Prince Alfred Square to get to the stadium on O'Connell St.

The free Parramatta CBD shuttle bus (route 900) will run regularly from 8am until 4pm. Keep in mind this service is limited and will be busy so consider the short 10 minute walk to the stadium instead. See the Shuttle Bus Map for stop locations.

For bus service disruption information, check travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Parramatta Wharf is closed for upgrades from Tuesday 30 April for about six months, weather and conditions permitting. See Parramatta Wharf Upgrades for more details.

For ferry service disruption information, check travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Light rail services run between Central Station and Dulwich Hill with stops at popular CBD and Inner West destinations. However, there's planned weekend trackwork during the event. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Due to trackwork, buses will replace all light rail services from 12.30am Saturday 28 September to 6am Tuesday 1 October:

  • Daily from 6am to 11pm: Buses will replace all light rail services between Central and Dulwich Hill in both directions
  • Nightly from 11pm to 6am: Buses will replace all light rail services between Central and The Star in both directions.

For light rail service and replacement bus information including bus schedule and stop locations, check transportnsw.infotravel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Traffic will be heavy on roads approaching the stadium including Parramatta Rd, Church St, Victoria Rd, James Ruse Dr and Pennant Hills Rd.

Motorists should also exercise caution as pedestrian activity will be high on roads between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium as crowds arrive and leave the area.

The widened M4 between Parramatta and Homebush and the new M4 Tunnels between Homebush and Haberfield allows motorists to bypass more than 50 sets of traffic lights on Parramatta Road. A distance-based toll applies. For details on the M4 upgrades, visit westconnex.com.au.

For the latest traffic information visit Live Traffic NSW or download a real-time traffic app.

A secure taxi rank is located at Parramatta Westfield on Fitzwilliam Street.

An alternate taxi rank is located on the eastern side of Villiers St between Ross St and Victoria Rd.

Note: O’Connell St is a no-stopping zone and taxis or any other vehicles are not permitted to drop off or pick up any passengers at any time.  Attendees who are being picked up or dropped off are encouraged to pre-plan a location away from the stadium.

For details of taxi networks servicing the Sydney area, visit NSW Taxi Council.

  • Justice Precinct Car Park (Hunter Street)
  • Eat Street Car Park (George Street)
