Due to light rail vehicle repairs, buses are replacing light rail services on the L1 Dulwich Hill Line between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill until further notice.

Replacement bus route 4L1 (Dulwich Hill to The Star) makes stops on Darley Road, Leichhardt close to the Leichhardt North light rail stop. It is approximately a 12 minute walk from the Darley Road bus stop to the oval.

Remember it’s mandatory to wear a face mask when travelling on public transport, and you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the app ahead of time.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail. 

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping for trains to Central to connect with buses to Leichhardt.

Trackwork

Weekend trackwork is taking place from 2am Saturday 29 January until 2am Monday 31 January and may affect how you travel to and from the event:

  • T2 Inner West & South Line: Buses replace trains between Fairfield and Glenfield.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Liverpool and Bankstown.
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Fairfield and Glenfield.
  • Southern Highlands Line: Buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown.

A number or regular bus services make stops within walking distance of Leichhardt Oval including routes 440, 437, 445 and 470.

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a train service to Central to connect with buses towards Leichhardt.

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly, plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Catch replacement bus route 4L1 (between The Star and Dulwich Hill) to Leichhardt North stops on Darley Road, and walk to the Oval (approx. 12 minute).

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Leichhardt Oval including James St, Perry St, Balmain Rd, Mary St and Glover St as fans make their way to the game.

A section of Mary Street will close before the game and will reopen when crowds have cleared the area. Traffic will be detoured via Chapel St.

There are no designated taxi ranks available at Leichhardt Oval. The best location for drop off is Mary Street and for pick up is Perry Street.
