Important travel advice

Footy fans are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.

The closest station to both venues is Bomaderry on the South Coast Line however trackwork is taking place on the South Coast Line over the long weekend so allow extra travel time and plan your trip.

Free shuttle buses will run each day from Bomaderry Train Station to Bomaderry Sporting Complex and Rugby Park, Nowra. 

If you’re driving, travel with your group and use designated carparks. A free park and ride service will run from each carpark each day. Allow extra travel time as traffic will be heavier than usual, you can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport in the Opal network, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping to connect with services towards Bomaderry on the South Coast Line. Please note trackwork on the South Coast Line will affect your travel.

The closest station to both venues is Bomaderry on the South Coast Line, however, trackwork is taking place on the South Coast Line over the long weekend and buses are replacing trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. You will need to change for a bus to complete your journey so allow extra travel time and plan your trip.

Free shuttle buses will run each day between 7am and 6:30pm from Bomaderry Train Station to Bomaderry Sporting Complex and Rugby Park, Nowra. 

  • On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Route 5 will run to Bomaderry Sporting Complex and Rugby Park, Nowra every 45 minutes.
  • On Monday 3 October, Route 1M will run to Bomaderry Sporting Complex every 30 minutes.

Trackwork

Weekend trackwork is taking place and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:

Friday 30 September

  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Morning and afternoon, some trains run between Leppington and the City via Regents Park. Extra trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham. Trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, stopping all stations to Lidcombe, then limited stops to the City Circle. Trains also run between Sydenham and the City Circle, stopping at St Peters and Erskineville.
  • T8 Airport Line: Morning and afternoon, extra trains run between Revesby and the City via Sydenham.
  • South Coast Line: From 2.30pm, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Dapto. Trains run between Port Kembla, Dapto and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.

Weekend Trackwork – 2am Saturday 1 October until 2am Tuesday 4 October

  • City Circle Line: From 9.40pm Monday until 1.30am Tuesday, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall. Some City Circle trains run to a changed timetable and leave from different platforms. Some trains start or end at Central, and you may need to change trains to continue your journey. If you are travelling from Circular Quay to Wynyard or Town Hall you can catch the light rail.
  • T1 Western Line: On Saturday from 5.50am until 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown. From 8.45am until 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields. Trains run between Blacktown or Schofields and the City, some to a changed timetable.
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Homebush trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, stopping at all stations between Liverpool and Lidcombe, then running to the normal timetable between Homebush and the City. On Saturday from 6:30am until 10:30am, trains run between Homebush and the City only. Leppington trains will not stop at Ashfield.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham. Trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, stopping all stations to Lidcombe and the City Circle. Trains also run between Sydenham and the City Circle, stopping at St Peters and Erskineville. On Saturday from 6:30am until 10:30am, trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Buses continue to replace trains until Sunday 9 October.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: On Saturday from 9.30pm until 2.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville. Trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops between Cronulla and Bondi Junction until 11:55pm. From 11.55pm until 2.30am, buses also replace trains between Cronulla and Hurstville.
  • T5 Cumberland Line: On Saturday from 5.50am until 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown. From 8.45am until 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields. Trains run between Blacktown or Schofields and Leppington, some to a changed timetable.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: On Monday from 9.40pm until 1.30am, trains start and end at Central. Change trains at Central to continue your journey.
  • T9 Northern Line: On Saturday from 6:30am until 10:30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
  • South Coast Line: From 2.30pm Friday until 12.40am Saturday, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Dapto. Trains run between Port Kembla, Dapto and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. From 12.40am Saturday until 2am Monday, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong. Trains run between Wollongong and Thirroul or Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. From 2am Saturday until 2am Tuesday, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong. From 9.40pm Saturday until 2.30am Sunday, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville.

Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. Trackwork may affect how you travel so allow plenty of extra travel time and plan ahead. Free return shuttle buses will run throughout the weekend between 7am and 6:30pm from various parking locations to both event venues:

To Bomaderry Sporting Complex

  • Route 1 (Bomaderry RSL, Nowra Anglican College) - every 30 minutes Friday, Saturday and Sunday 
  • Route 1M (Bomaderry Train Station, Nowra Anglican Coellege) - every 30 minutes on Monday only
  • Route 2 (Bernie Regan Sporting Complex, Bomaderry TAFE, Bomaderry Motor Inn) - every 45 minutes Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday

To Rugby Park, Nowra

  • Route 3 (Bridge Road Carpark, Archer Racecourse) - every 30 minutes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Route 4 (South Nowra Football Grounds, Shoalhaven Netball Courts, Lyrebird Sports Park) - every 45 minutes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Route 5 - every 45 minutes from Bomaderry Train Station to Bomaderry Sporting Complex and Rugby Park, Nowra on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill line light rail services run every 15 minutes between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill from 6am to 11pm daily, and until midnight on Fridays. Allow extra time and plan ahead using the Trip Planner.

Change at Central for South Coast Line services to Bomaderry

Please note, due to planned weekend trackwork, buses are replacing trains between Wollongong and Bomaderry and some trains run to a changed timetable. You will need to change to a bus to complete your journey so allow extra travel time and plan your trip.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street).

Change at Central for South Coast Line services to Bomaderry.

Traffic is expected to be heavier than normal on major roads approaching Bomaderry including the Princes Highway, Moss Vale Road and Kangaroo Valley Road. Motorists should allow for extra travel time when driving through the area.

If you are planning on driving to the event, travel with your group and allow additional travel time.

There is no parking at Bomaderry Sporting Complex or Rugby Park, Nowra. A park and ride service will be available throughout the weekend from various parking locations.

For Bomaderry Sporting Complex, parking options are available at Bomaderry RSL, Country Motor Group, Bernie Regan Sporting Complex, Nowra Anglican College and Bomaderry TAFE. 

For Rugby Park at Nowra, parking options are available at Archers Racecourse, South Nowra Football Grounds, Shoalhaven Netball Courts and Lyrebird Sports Park
