Important travel advice
Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.
Valid pre-purchased tickets to Yours and Owls include train travel. When catching public transport, plan ahead and allow extra time. Trains run regularly to North Wollongong on the South Coast Line which is within walking distance of the venue.
Remember you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment method when travelling to and from the event on ferries and buses. Register your details via the Opal website or app ahead of time.
Drive with your group and use nearby local parking. Allow extra travel time as traffic may be heavier than usual around the area. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com
Additional measures and staff will be in place around transport hubs and the University to safely manage crowds arriving and leaving the event so please be patient, and follow the directions of staff on-site.
Valid pre-purchased tickets to Yours and Owls on Saturday 14 October and Sunday 15 October include travel on the following transport services. Just show your event ticket to Transport staff when boarding services:
- Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (non-booked services bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
- Sydney Metro North West Line services
- Sydney and Newcastle Light rail services
For travel on buses and ferries, you will need to use an Opal card or contactless payment method. See below for more information.
Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your festival ticket is valid on trains until 4am the following day.
Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.
Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport services including metro, trains, buses ferries and light rail, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
The closest station to the University of Wollongong is North Wollongong on the South Coast Line. The university is approximately a 20-minute walk from the station.
All South Coast Line services to and from Central will stop at North Wollongong on Saturday and Sunday.

Shuttle buses will be operating around Wollongong to get you to and from the festival. Pick-up locations will include;
- Campground - Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort, from Fairy Meadow Surf Live saving club. (Campers ticket holders only)
- North Wollongong Train Station.
- The University of Wollongong Grounds
Dedicated event shuttles will run frequently from one hour prior to gates, until two hours after the event.
The ‘free Gong shuttle’ (routes 55A and 55C) bus operates in both directions on a loop around Wollongong Station stopping at the University of Wollongong.
The shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes from 8am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Motorists should expect delays approaching the Unversity of Wollongong and allow extra travel time if driving to and from the event.
