Important Travel Advice

Rugby fans are urged to plan ahead as Sydney Olympic Park will be very busy on Saturday with a combined crowd of up to 100,000 travelling into the precinct while multiple events take place at neighbouring venues across the day and night.

Public transport is the best way to get to Olympic Park with express trains from Central and Major Event Buses running to the precinct. The cost of travel is included in Bledisloe Cup match tickets – simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding.

Join other rugby fans by catching a train or major event bus to the match.

  • Express trains will run to Olympic Park from Central from 12.45pm, with frequent return services until late. From Olympic Park station, the stadium is a short 10-minute walk away.
  • Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will run on all nine routes every 5 to 18 minutes between 12.06pm and 2.33pm, depending on the route. Frequent buses will run after the match.

Getting around is easy with the Opal Travel app. The Opal Travel app is the official Transport for NSW app to help you get around public transport. You can plan and save your trips, check your travel activities and fares, top up on the go and more. Download the FREE Opal Travel app now.

If you have no other option but to drive, you must have pre-booked parking:

  • Do not drive unless you have pre-booked parking. Spots are expected to sell out in advance so it is essential that you pre-book parking online to guarantee a car space. A flat rate $35 parking fee applies.
  • Carpool with your group and allow plenty of extra travel time as traffic will be heavy approaching the precinct and entering car parks.
  • If you have pre-booked parking, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry.
  • After the match, traffic will be very heavy as everyone leaves at the same time. Expect to allow up to an hour of additional travel time exiting car parks.
  • You can also consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing your trip by train to Olympic Park, at no extra cost.
  • Allow plenty of extra travel time on the roads and plan your trip before leaving home. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

If you're getting dropped off or catching rideshare:

  • Taxi ranks are located on Herb Elliott Avenue near Park Street. Allow plenty of extra travel time on the roads,
  • After the match, demand for taxis and rideshare will be high and prices are likely to be surging. Avoid the traffic delays while roads are closed by considering catching a train or bus outside of the precinct to connect with your ride faster.
  • Allow plenty of extra travel time on the roads as long delays are expected.

Arrive early to enjoy the pre-event atmosphere in the precinct. Local cafes and restaurants will be open, and Fig Grove opposite the stadium will be a hub of food-trucks and entertainment. Some venues will operate extended trading hours if you want to avoid queues of crowds leaving the precinct after the show.

To avoid delays entering the Stadium, you must download on your phone the Ticketek App to access your mobile tickets and save to your Apple or Google wallet. Please don’t wait until you get to the Stadium!
