Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham.  

Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. Alight at Central Station to get to the event.

Trains run regularly on all lines to Central Station to bring you to the expo.

Trackwork

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 October and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner 

  • T3 Bankstown Line: From Monday 30 September, buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Bankstown. Southwest Link buses run between Bankstown and Sydenham. T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: T8 trains will not run via Sydenham. All trains run via the Airport, some to a changed timetable.
  • South Coast Line: On the weekend, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
  • Southern Highlands Line: Trains run between Southern Highlands Line stations and Campbelltown only.

Regular route buses

Plenty of buses run to Central Station stopping within short walking distance of the multiple station entries.

Vintage buses

Enjoy Sydney’s city sights aboard a vintage double-decker bus for a 20-minute round trip of the CBD. 

Vintage Buses are operated by the Sydney Bus Museum.

Departure times: Departs from Central Station's Western Forecourt every 5 to 10 minutes from 10am to 4pm (daily).

​Total duration: 20 minutes

​Fares: Free, donations appreciated upon boarding

Sydney Ferries

The closest wharf to Central is Circular Quay, change for trains or light rail to Central Station to get to the expo

Sydney Harbour Steam Cruises

Embark on a 45-minute Sydney Harbour cruise aboard your choice of two steam vessels: the Waratah or Lady Hopetoun.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads around Central Station as attendees travel to and from the event over the weekend.

Taxi ranks are located at the western forecourt of Central Station near Pitt St.

Parking is limited around the station, catch public transport instead.
