Important Travel Advice

Fans are encouraged to plan ahead and consider all the available travel options.

The closest station to the stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. The stadium is a short walk from the station.   

Please note that due to planned trackwork, buses replace trains between Gordon and Newcastle Interchange. You will need to catch a replacement bus to get to Broadmeadow. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you’re driving, travel with your group and pre-book stadium parking via Ticketmaster or use nearby local parking. Traffic may be heavier than usual as fans travel to and from the game, so allow extra travel time – you can find real-time updates on traffic conditions livetraffic.com.  

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. 

Please note that due to planned trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line, you will need to catch a replacement bus to get to Broadmeadow.  

At Epping, connect with a replacement bus towards to Broadmeadow. Alternatively, change at Central for a T1 North Shore Line train to Gordon where you can connect with a replacement bus towards Broadmeadow. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

The closest station to McDonald Jones Stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. From the station, the stadium is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk away (1.5km).

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Saturday 8 February on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:  

  • T1 North Shore Line: Buses replace trains between Berowra and Gordon. Trains run between Gordon and the City, some to a changed timetable. Buses also replace T9 Northern and Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains. 
  • T1 Western Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Penrith trains make extra stops at Homebush, Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield. Richmond trains run between Richmond and Liverpool. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City. 
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Inner West trains will not run. T1 Western and T2 Leppington trains make extra stops. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and T1 North Shore Line stations via Granville or Regents Park, and stop at all stations between Ashfield and Central. T1 Western Line trains make extra stops at Homebush, Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Inner West trains will not run. T1 Western and T2 Leppington trains make extra stops. Trains run between Leppington and T1 North Shore Line stations via Regents Park, and stop at all stations between Ashfield and Central. T1 Western Line trains make extra stops at Homebush, Burwood, Croydon and Ashfield. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 4am to 11.30am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Sutherland. Trains run between Cronulla, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable. Extra trains run between Liverpool and Richmond. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Strathfield and the City. Frequent metro services run between Epping and the City. Some early morning trains are replaced by bus from Central to Strathfield. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Gordon. T1 North Shore Line trains run between Gordon and the City, some to a changed timetable. Buses also replace trains on the Hunter and T9 Northern lines.   
  • Hunter Line: Buses replace trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange. Buses also replace trains on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.   
  • South Coast Line: From 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Sutherland. You may need to change buses to continue your journey. Trains run to a changed timetable between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, and T4 Illawarra trains run between Sutherland and Bondi Junction.  
  • Southern Highlands Line: From 4.40am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown. T8 Airport & South Line trains run between Campbelltown and the City via the Airport.

The closest bus stops to McDonald Jones Stadium are on Turton Road and Lambton Road. Regular routes 13, 23, 25, 26 and 27 run towards the stadium. Check Newcastle Transport for more bus network information.

Ferries run between Stockton and Queens Wharf approximately every 20 minutes.

At Queens Wharf, change for a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange. Please note that due to planned trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line, you will need to catch a replacement bus from Newcastle Interchange to Broadmeadow. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Newcastle Light Rail services run from 5am to 1am daily between Newcastle Interchange in Wickham and Pacific Park in Newcastle East. With six convenient stops, it’s easy to get around Newcastle’s city centre and connect with train, bus and ferry services.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the stadium as fans travel to the match. Allow some extra travel time on roads including Turton Road and Griffiths Road.

For passenger drop-offs, use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.

The nearest taxi rank to the stadium is located on Young Road, Broadmeadow. Taxis can be accessed after the event by following the signs to Young Road.

Pre-paid parking on game days and major events is available only for vehicles with a pre-paid parking ticket. Pre-paid parking tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster online, by phone or by visiting Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium. Visit Ticketmaster – McDonald Jones Stadium.  

Disabled parking areas have been designated in close proximity to each of McDonald Jones Stadiums accessible entries. To purchase a Mobility parking please phone Ticketmaster on 136 100 or visit the Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium.   

Drop-off zone: use the allocated 10-minute loading zone in the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the driveway off Turton Road.
