Important event information

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip to the ICC Sydney Theatre in Darling Harbour by public transport. 

  • The closest train and metro stations to the venue are Central, Town Hall and Gadigal stations. See the Premier's Gala concerts Transport Map (pdf 515KB) to find your way. 
  • From Central Station you can connect with light rail services running directly to the venue. Catch L1 Dulwich Hill light rail services leaving from Central Station’s Grand Concourse to the Exhibition Centre stop which is directly opposite the ICC Sydney Theatre.
  • Be patient and allow extra travel time as light rail services will be busier than usual during the morning and evening weekday peaks. Additional staff will be on site to assist crowds.
  • You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on transport to and from the event. Register your details via the Opal website or app ahead of time.
  • On-site parking is available at the ICC Sydney, entry via Darling Drive. For more parking information see the ICC Sydney website
  • If you’re getting dropped off the closest drop off point to the venue is on Zollner Circuit off Darling Drive.  
  • Traffic may be heavier than usual so allow extra travel time if driving. You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.  

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

If you have a Seniors Card issued by any Australian state or territory, you are entitled to a Gold Senior/ Pensioner Opal card and concession fares on public transport in NSW. You will need to apply 2-3 weeks before travelling to NSW. Find more information at Ticket eligibility-concessions/seniors

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. 

Change at Central to connect with light rail services to the Exhibition Centre.

The best station for connections to the ICC Sydney Theatre in Darling Harbour is Central. Trains run regularly to Central and additional NSW TrainLink services will also run.

From Central, catch L1 Light rail services leaving from the Grand Concourse to the Exhibition Centre stop which is directly opposite the venue. Shuttle buses will also be running to supplement light rail services.

Alternatively you can walk from either Central or Town Hall stations in around 10 to 15 minutes.

If you are travelling from outside of Sydney, catch NSW TrainLink services to Central to connect with light rail services to the venue.

The following addition NSW TrainLink services will run to help you get to and from the shows:

Central Coast & Newcastle Line

  • Additional early-morning trains to Central will leave Newcastle Interchange at 6.30am and 7am stopping at Broadmeadow, Cardiff, Fassifern, Morisset, Wyong, Tuggerah, Gosford, Woy Woy then all stations to Berowra, Asquith, Hornsby, Epping, Strathfield and Central. The 6:39am and 7:21am Newcastle Interchange services will make an additional stop at Hawkesbury River. 
  • In the afternoon, the 2:32pm service from Central to Newcastle Interchange will be extended stopping at Hawkesbury River, Woy Woy, Gosford, Tuggerah, Wyong, Morisset, Fassifern, Cardiff, Broadmeadow, Hamilton then all stations to Newcastle Interchange arriving at 5:10pm. The 1:20pm and 2:20pm services leaving Central will also make an additional stop at Hawkesbury River. 

South Coast Line and Blue Mountains Line

  • Some early-morning services will be increased to 8 carriages. In the afternoon the 2:23pm South Coast Line service to Kiama will be increased to 8 carriages. 

Trackwork

Planned trackwork is taking place on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 March on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

Regular route buses

Bus Routes 389 from Bondi Junction and 501 from West Ryde stop at Harris Street near Allen Street in Pyrmont. The ICC Sydney Theatre is approximately 750m walking distance.

Event buses

During peak periods, shuttle buses will run to supplement light rail services between Central and Exhibition Centre each day as needed. Please follow directions of train station staff and bus marshals on site to access these buses .

Catch a ferry to Circular Quay where you can change for a Sydney Trains service to Central to continue your journey to the ICC. Alternatively, catch a ferry to Pyrmont Bay, from there you can walk to the ICC Sydney Theatre or connect with light rail services to Exhibition Centre. See our Transport Map (pdf 515KB) to find your way.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Additional light rail services will be running on the day. 

Shuttle buses will supplement services Light rail services between Central and Exhibition each day during the busy morning and afternoon peaks. 

Allow extra time as light rail services will be busy during morning and afternoon peak periods. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

From Central change for L1 Light rail services leaving from Central Grand Concourse to Exhibition Centre which is located across from ICC Sydney Theatre.  See our Transport Map (pdf 515KB) to find your way. 

Or alight at Haymarket or Chinatown stops and walk to the ICC in Darling Harbour.

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Central from Parramatta Station.

Traffic may be heavier than usual through the Sydney CBD and Pyrmont before and after the shows so allow extra travel time if you’re planning to drive and travel with your group.
