Important Event Information
The best way to get to the event is by public transport. Plenty of services run to the city including trains, buses, ferries and light rail services, all making stops within close walking distance of the Domain.

You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the app ahead of time
If you are planning on driving or catching rideshare and taxis, allow extra travel time as traffic will be heavier than usual in the area.

Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night.

Plenty of regular route buses run to the City making stops within short walking distance of The Domain.
The closest bus interchanges are at Martin Place, Wynyard, Hyde Park and Town Hall QVB.

Bus Diversions
Some buses will be diverting and using different routes and stops while roads are closed from 5am to 12pm.
- Route 441 – from 5am to 12pm, services will start and end their trips at QVB due to road closures on Art Gallery Road. Services towards the Domain will end at QVB, Market St, Stand F (Stop ID 2000140). Services towards Birchgrove will start trips from QVB, York St, Stand B (Stop ID 200042)
- Route 504 – from 5am to 12pm midday services leaving the city will start trips at Riley Street at Cathedral Street Woolloomooloo (Stop ID 201159) instead of St Marys Rd due to road closures. The stop at St Mary's Cathedral, St Marys Rd (Stop ID 2000410) will be missed. Trips to the city will run as normal ending trips at Riley St opp Kennedy St (Stop ID 201157).
- Route 506 – from 5am to 12pm midday services leaving the city will start trips from Riley Street at Cathedral Street Woolloomooloo (Stop ID 201159) instead of St Mary’s Rd due to road closures. The stop at St Mary's Cathedral, St Marys Rd (Stop ID 2000410) will be missed. Services to the city will run as normal.

Services run regularly to Circular Quay and the wharf is within walking distance of the Domain.
Sydney Ferries services are very popular on weekends and may reach capacity so have alternative transport options in mind.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line
L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
At Central, connect with metro services to Martin Place to get within walking distance of The Domain Sydney. Alternatively, change for a light rail service on the L2 or L3 Line to QVB and continue on foot towards via Market St and through Hyde Park to reach The Domain Sydney
L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). The closest stop within walking distance of The Domain Sydney is at the QVB. From there continue on foot via Market St and through Hyde Park to reach The Domain Sydney.
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Central from Parramatta Station. From Central, catch a L2 or L3 Line service to QVB and continue on foot towards via Market St and through Hyde Park to reach The Domain Sydney.
Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Travel by car is not recommended as traffic will be heavy and there is limited parking available at the nearby Domain car park (note that parking fees apply). If you need to drive, arrive early to secure a parking spot.
Road closures will be in place along and surrounding the course through the Domain and Sydney CBD around Hyde Park from 5am.
Mother’s Day is traditionally one of the busiest days on the roads. Wherever you are travelling, expect it to take longer than usual and factor in extra travel time.
Road Closures
- 5am to 12pm:
- Art Gallery Road/Mrs Macquarie's Road from Hospital Road.
- 5am to 10.30am:
- Hospital Road between Prince Albert Road and Shakespeare Place.
- Two-way access to Hospital Rd and Sydney Hospital will be available via Shakespeare Place only.
- Prince Albert Road between St Mary's Road and Hospital Road.
- 6am to 10.30am:
- Boomerang Place/Yurong Parkway between William Street and St Mary's Road.
- College Street between Park Street and Prince Albert Road.
- Macquarie Street between St James Road and Hunter Street.
- Prince Albert Road between St James Road and St Mary's Road.
- St James Road between Elizabeth Street and Prince Albert Road.
- St Mary's Road between Prince Albert Road and Cathedral Street
- Managed access into St Mary’s Rd, Cathedral St and the Domain Car park will be available via Sir John Young Cres/Yurong Pkwy only. St Mary’s Road will be closed at Sir John Young Crescent when The Domain Car Park is full.
Cycleway Closures
- From 6am to 10.30am the cycleway on College Street between Park Street and Prince Albert Road will be closed.

Parking
The best way to get to the event is by public transport. Parking in the area is limited and is expected to reach capacity early. Street parking is limited, and special event clearways will be in effect, check signs carefully before parking as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies.
The following nearby car parks are available at a fee – it is recommended to book in early:
- The Wilson Domain Car park on St Marys Road, Sydney
- Access to The Domain Car Park will be via Riley Street or Sir John Young Crescent. There is no access to The Domain Car Park from College St/Prince Albert Rd from 6am – 10:30am.
- The Wharf, Wolloomooloo on Lincoln Crescent, Woolloomooloo
- Parkhouse Car Park on Macquarie Street, Sydney
- 60 Elizabeth Street Car Park on Elizabeth Street, Sydney
Special Event Clearways
Special event clearways will be in effect between 5am and 12pm on the following roads
- From 5am to 10.30am on sections of Macquarie Street, Hunter Street, College Street, St Mary's Road, Prince Albert Road and St James Road.
- From 5am to 12pm on sections of Prince Albert Road and Hospital Road.

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and TfNSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.
