Important Travel Advice
Ticketholders are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.
Travel on trains, metro and light rail is included in your ticket to the event, simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services.
Trains run regularly to Olympic Park from Lidcombe and the venue is a short walk from the station.
You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.
If you have to drive, travel with your group and pre-book your parking online – available until 11:59pm the night before the event.
Sydney Olympic Park will be busier than usual with the Monster Trucks event also being held at nearby Qudos Bank Arena over the weekend. Expect heavy traffic and allow extra travel time. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.
Valid pre-purchased tickets to the Sydney Boat Show on Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 August at Sydney Showground include travel to and from Olympic Park on the following transport services, just show your event ticket to transport staff when boarding:
- Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (non-booked services bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
- Sydney Metro services
- Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle Light Rail services
Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day.
Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.

Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.
The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.
Change at Epping or Central to connect with train services towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park.
On Saturday and Sunday, extra metro services run due to train trackwork on the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines.

The closest station to Qudos Bank Arena is Olympic Park.
Trains run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until late.

Trackwork
Planned trackwork is taking place throughout the event on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from Olympic Park. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.
Weekday – Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August
- T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: On Thursday from 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains do not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops between Parramatta and Central, to a changed timetable. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville.
- T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: On Thursday from 9.40pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains will not run. T1 or T9 trains make extra stops between Lidcombe and Central, to a changed timetable and frequency. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: On Friday from 10.40pm, buses replace trains between Sutherland and Hurstville. Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla or Waterfall and Sutherland, and between Mortdale or Hurstville and Bondi Junction.
- Blue Mountains Line: On Thursday from 7.20pm to 3.30am, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Penrith. The last train from the Blue Mountains leaves Mount Victoria at 18:56, arriving Central at 21:17. From 9.10pm to 3am, buses replace trains from Penrith to Lithgow. The last train to the Blue Mountains leaves Central at 19:09, arriving Mount Victoria at 21:29. Trains run between Penrith and Central, some to a changed timetable.
- Central Coast & Newcastle Line: On Thursday from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. Friday, the 01:47 Central to Newcastle Interchange service is replace by a bus from Central to Hornsby. This bus leaves Central at 1.23am, 24 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable, to connect with this service at Hornsby.
- South Coast Line: On Friday from 9.20am to 2.15pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong. Buses towards Wollongong may leave stations up to 15 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable. On Thursday and Friday, buses replace the following trains: 14:31 Bomaderry to Berry, 14:50 Berry to Kiama and 15:41 Kiama to Bomaderry. On Friday, from 10.40pm, buses replace trains between Sutherland and Hurstville. Trains run to a changed timetable between Kiama and Sutherland, and between Hurstville and Central, platforms 1-14.
Weekend – Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August
- M1 Metro Line: Extra metro services run due to train trackwork on the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines.
- T1 Western Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Riverstone and between Riverstone and the City. On Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Riverstone and between Riverstone and Liverpool. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
- T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: On Saturday, from 6.30am to 10.30am, Leppington trains will not stop at Ashfield. You may need to change at Strathfield to continue your journey. T9 trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
- T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: On Saturday, from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Homebush and the City only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Buses replace trains between Cronulla, Waterfall and Central. Some buses start and end at Redfern. Trains run between Central and Bondi Junction, to a changed timetable.
- T5 Cumberland Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Richmond and Riverstone and between Riverstone and Liverpool.
- T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes.
- T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Sydenham and Central. Trains run to the normal timetable between Macarthur, Revesby and the City via the Airport. Trackwork on the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines may also affect how you travel.
- T9 Northern Line: On Saturday, from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
- South Coast Line: Buses replace trains between Dapto, Port Kembla and Central. Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable

The following Sydney buses services run to Olympic Park:
- Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Strathfield via Sydney Olympic Park.
- Route 526 runs from the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf to Olympic Park.
- Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to Sydney Showground is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf.
F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.
F3 Parramatta River ferries may be affected by low tide between Parramatta and Rydalmere and replaced by buses. Check for updates here.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park.
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service towards Lidcombe then Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.
Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Expect traffic delays approaching the precinct and entering car parks, particularly during weeknight peak travel times and when other events are on in the precinct – Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live will take place at neighbouring Qudos Bank Arena across the weekend. Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on roads including the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road.
If you have to drive, carpool with your group pre-book your parking online ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.
To get to your carpark and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout, use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road.

Visit Sydney Olympic Park – Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event, available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply.
If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time. Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout.
If you haven’t pre-booked, follow the variable message signs within Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking.
Traffic delays are expected after the event as attendees leave the precinct.
Transport Park&Ride Car Parks
Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services.
Tickets to the Sydney Boat Show at Sydney Showground include travel on some transport modes and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.
