Important Travel Advice

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time.   

Race tickets include travel on all modes of public transport, simply show your ticket to transport staff when boarding services.

The best train stations for connections to Rosehill Gardens are Parramatta and Westmead where you can connect with light rail services to the racecourse. 

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run regularly via Parramatta and stop at Rosehill Gardens, across from the racecourse, with additional services running for the event. Alight at the Rosehill Gardens and continue on foot via Grand Avenue and the underpass to the racecourse. See the Rosehill Gardens transport map (pdf 455KB) to find your way. 

If you have to drive, travel with your group and arrive early. There’s parking on-site at the racecourse or consider using rideshare and taxis instead. Allow extra travel time as traffic may be heavier than usual. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Event ticket entitlements

Valid pre-purchased tickets to Everest Carnival 2025 at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse between 20 September and 4 November (inclusive) include travel to and from Rosehill Racecourse on the following transport services – just show your event ticket or ATC Members card to transport staff when boarding: 

  • Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations) 
  • Sydney Buses 
  • Sydney Metro services. 
  • Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle Light Rail services 
  • Sydney and Newcastle Ferries 

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day. 

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements. 

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks 

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services. 

Tickets to Everest Carnival race days at Rosehill Gardens include travel on transport and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.

Change at Epping to connect with buses to Rosehill or trains to Parramatta where you can connect with light rail services to the Rosehill Gardens stop. See the Rosehill Gardens transport map (pdf 455KB) to find your way.

Trackwork

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Saturday 27 September on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • M1 Metro Line: From 9am to 6pm, extra metro services will run between Tallawong and Sydenham due to train trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line. From 8am to 6pm, a bus service will run between Tallawong and Schofields.
  • City Circle: Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum. Some trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central. If travelling to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Central or Town Hall for metro services to Victoria Cross, Crows Nest or Chatswood, then change for a bus to continue your journey. 
  • T1 North Shore Line: Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Milsons Point, also stopping at Crows Nest and Victoria Cross metro stations.  Use metro services between Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross and the City. Trains run between Berowra and Central via Strathfield, to a changed timetable. 
  • T1 Western Line: Trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith and Central, platforms 1-14, and between Richmond and Liverpool only, due to trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line. You may need to change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City. From 7am to 6pm, buses replace some trains between Richmond and Clarendon or Blacktown. Richmond train run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Clarendon or Blacktown and Liverpool or the City. Extra trains run between Clarendon and Macarthur or Central.
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Inner West trains will not run. T2 Leppington trains make extra stops. Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and the City and stop at all stations between Lidcombe and Central. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Buses replace trains between Liverpool and Lidcombe. Inner West trains will not run. T2 Leppington trains make extra stops. T2 trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and the City and stop at all stations between Lidcombe and Central. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Trackwork on the City Circle may affect how you travel. If travelling to Circular Quay change trains at Central, not Town Hall. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Extra trains run between Richmond and Liverpool. From 7am to 6pm, buses replace some trains between Richmond and Clarendon or Blacktown. Train run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Clarendon or Blacktown and Liverpool. You may need to change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central only, via the Airport. Most Macarthur trains to the City run via the Airport and continue around the City Circle. Trains from the City to Macarthur run via Sydenham. Early morning and late-night trains run between Macarthur and Central only, via the Airport. Trains between Sydenham and the City Circle do not run. T4 trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Trains run between Berowra or Hornsby and the City Circle, due to trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line. If travelling to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Epping or Central for metro services to Chatswood, Crows Nest or Victoria Cross, then change for replacement buses. Extra metro services run between Tallawong, Epping and the City. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Some trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork on the City Circle 
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Some trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork on the City Circle.

From Parramatta Interchange, route 920 services run towards Rosehill making stops near the racecourse. Services run every 20 minutes on weekends. Route 920:

  • Services leave from Parramatta Station Interchange, Stand A2, and drop off on James Ruse Drive opposite Prospect Street.
  • Services leave from James Ruse Drive at Prospect Street and drop off at Parramatta Interchange.

The closest wharf to the Rosehill Racecourse is Parramatta Wharf.

From the wharf, walk to the Robin Thomas light rail stop via the riverside and Argus Lane to connect with services to Rosehill Gardens stop to get within short walking distance of the racecourse.

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Parramatta, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available. 

Please note, F3 Parramatta River ferries between Parramatta and Rydalmere may be affected by low tide and replaced by buses, check for updates here.

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

The closest light rail stop to the racecourse is Rosehill Gardens. Alight at Rosehill Gardens and continue on foot via Grand Ave and the underpass to the racecourse. See the Rosehill Gardens transport map (pdf 455KB) to find your way.

Attendees are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings. Read the news story for more information. 

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Use the Trip Planner to plan your trip.

From Central, change for trains to Parramatta to connect with light rail to Rosehill Gardens. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using Trip Planner

From Central, change for trains to Parramatta to connect with light rail to Rosehill Gardens.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the racecourse as attendees travel to and from the event. Allow extra travel time on roads including James Ruse Drive and Hassall Street.   

Drivers are reminded that light rail services are running between Westmead, Parramatta and Carlingford. Trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so exercise extra caution when driving in the area. Read the news story for more information.

Drop-off: taxis entre Rosehill Gardens Racecourse through the Grand Avenue gates but are not permitted to stop on James Ruse Drive or Grand Avenue

Pick-up: taxis are located on Oak Street over the Equine bridge located at the Might and Power entry.

Free unreserved members parking is available in: 

  • P4 and P5 car parks located on James Ruse Drive and Prospect Street. 
  • P6 Infield car park via Gate 2 on Unwin Street. 

Reserved members car parking is available for those with annual car park passes. 

Special Event Clearways  

Special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect at the following locations: 

  • From 6am to 7pm: Grand Avenue from approx. 255m prior to Gate 1 Australian Turf Club Rosehill Gardens to opposite Grand Avenue North.

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.
