Important Travel Advice

Sydney Olympic Park will be busy with more than 40,000 music fans attending Fridayz Live as well as thousands attending a concert at nearby Qudos Bank Arena.  

Transport

Attendees are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport to avoid getting caught in traffic delays.  

  • Express trains will run from Central as well as regular services from Lidcombe to Olympic Park. The stadium is a short walk from the station.
  • You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

Driving

  • If you need to drive, pre-book parking to guarantee a car space. Carpool with your group and allow extra travel time to arrive. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply. 
  • If you have pre-booked parking, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry.
  • Traffic will be very heavy after the show as attendees leave at the same time. Expect to allow up to an hour of additional travel time exiting car parks. 
  • You can also consider parking at a nearby train station commuter car park and continuing your trip by train to Olympic Park. You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport
  • Allow plenty of extra travel time on roads and plan your trip before leaving home. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.
  • If you're getting dropped off or using rideshare, use the designated drop off locations below or taxi rank on Herb Elliott Ave

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late.

Change at Central for express trains to Olympic Park, running from 3pm. Alternatively, change at Epping for a train service towards Strathfield then Olympic Park.

To help you get to and from the event, the following additional services will run: 

Getting there 

  • From Central: express services will run from Central every 20-minutes from 3pm until 10.30pm – stopping at Redfern, Strathfield the Olympic Park. 
  • Trains also run regularly to Lidcombe where you can head to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park, running every 10 minutes until 1am. 

Getting home 

  • To Central: trains will leave Olympic Park every 4-11 minutes from 11pm to 1am - stopping at Stratfield, Redfern then Central.
  • To Western line: trains will leave Olympic Park every 20 minutes from 11pm to 1am – stopping at Lidcombe, Granville, Parramatta, Westmead, Seven Hills, then all stations to Blacktown, Penrith or Schofields 
  • To Macarthur: An additional train will leave Lidcombe at 11:52pm – stopping at Auburn, Granville, then all stations to Macarthur 
  • To Central Coast and Newcastle line stations: an additional train will leave Central at 11:32pm stopping at Strathfield, Epping, Hornsby then all stations to Newcastle with the exception of Wondabyne. 
  • To Blue Mountain Line: trains will make an additional stop at Lidcombe between 10pm and 12am.

Trackwork 

Planned trackwork is taking place on Saturday 18 October on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • M1 Metro Line: Buses replace metro services between Tallawong and Castle Hill. Metro services run between Castle Hill and Sydenham only. 
  • City Circle: Trains do not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay but continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard. Light rail services run between Central and Circular Quay. If you are travelling to Circular Quay, change at Wynyard for the light rail or walk. If you are travelling to Museum or St James, change at Central or Town Hall for local buses or walk 
  • T1 Western Line: Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Central, platforms 1-14. Some early morning and late night Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Liverpool. Trains do not run around the City Circle. Use light rail or local bus services to travel to Circular Quay, St James or Museum.
  • T2 Leppington & Inner West Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between:  Macarthur and Central, platforms 1-14 via Granville, Liverpool and North Sydney via Regents Park, and Homebush and North Sydney. Trains do not run around the City Circle. Use light rail or local bus services to travel to Circular Quay, St James or Museum. Leppington trains will not stop at Ashfield. You may need to change at Strathfield to continue your journey. T9 trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Liverpool and North Sydney via Regents Park. Trains do not run around the City Circle. Use light rail or local bus services to travel to Circular Quay, St James or Museum. On Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Homebush and North Sydney only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. T1 and T2 trains run between Lidcombe and the City. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. If travelling to the Airport change at Central or Sydenham for a bus, not Wolli Creek. Buses replace T8 trains. Trains do not run around the City Circle. Use light rail or local bus services to travel to Circular Quay, St James or Museum. 
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield. Trains run between Liverpool and Schofields or Richmond, some to a changed timetable. Change trains at Liverpool to continue your journey towards Glenfield.
  • T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: Trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes. 
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Buses replace trains between Glenfield, Sydenham and Central via the Airport. Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Macarthur and Central, platforms 1-14 via Granville, and between Sydenham and Bondi Junction. Change at Central for trains to T4 or South Coast Line stations, not Wolli Creek. Trains do not run around the City Circle. Use light rail or local bus services to travel to Circular Quay, St James or Museum. 
  • T9 Northern Line: Trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
  • Blue Mountains Line: Daily from 3am to 8pm, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Penrith. Daily from 3am to 10pm, buses replace trains from Penrith to Lithgow. Bathurst trains run to a changed timetable between Bathurst and Lithgow only. The 20:24 Central to Lithgow will be the first train to run towards Lithgow. The 19:48 Lithgow to Central will be the first train to run towards the City.

The following Sydney buses services run to Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park via Newington.  
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.  
  • Route 533 runs from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Rhodes & North Ryde.

The closest wharf to ENGIE Stadium is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. There is a connecting 526 bus to the venue or alternatively it is approximately a 40-minute walk (3.6km) from the wharf. 

F3 Parramatta River services run regularly to Olympic Park, but services are very popular and may reach capacity. Keep this in mind if you’re planning on catching an F3 Parramatta River service. Plan your trip and allow plenty of extra travel time or consider the alternative public transport options available.

F3 Parramatta River ferries may be affected by low tide between Parramatta and Rydalmere and replaced by buses. Check for updates here

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Change at Central for express trains to Olympic Park

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line

L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train service to Lidcombe then Olympic Park from Parramatta Station.

Passengers are reminded that trams can’t stop quickly or easily – so please stop, listen and look around for trams and use designated pedestrian crossings.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park as attendees travel to and from the show. Travel with your group and allow extra travel time on the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road. 

If you have to drive, carpool with your group pre-book your parking online ahead of time to secure a space – available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior.  

To get to your carpark and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout, use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road.

Road Closures

Sydney Olympic Park Authority may close local roads in the precinct and traffic congestion is expected before and after the show. For road closure details, visit the Sydney Olympic Park Authority interactive map

The nearest Taxi Rank is on Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel.

If you’re using taxis or rideshare, remember that roads will be closed within the precinct. Allow plenty of extra travel time due to the increased traffic expected in the precinct before and after the event.

When leaving, choose a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the stadium to avoid delays.

Olympic Park Car Parks

Visit Sydney Olympic Park – Parking to secure your parking space ahead of the event, available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out prior. A flat rate $35 parking fee will apply

If you have pre-booked a space, follow the directions of staff and have your parking ticket ready to show at the car park entry. Carpool with your group and allow plenty of additional travel time.

Use Silverwater Road, Holker Street and Hill Road to get to your car park and avoid the heavy traffic congestion expected at the Homebush Bay Drive roundabout. Traffic delays are expected after the event as attendees leave the precinct.  

If you haven’t pre-booked, follow the variable message signs within Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking. 

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services.
