Elrow XXL - NYE Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach Party aerial

Bondi Beach, Bondi

Start 6pm
Finish 1am

Important event information

With large crowds and very limited parking in the area, the best way to get to and from the event is by public transport.

Plenty of services run to Bondi Beach from the City, Bondi Junction and surrounding areas in the Eastern Suburbs.

Trains run regularly to Bondi Junction where you can connect with route buses to Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach. You can also consider walking from Bondi Junction down Bondi Road.

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

Traffic will be heavy approaching the beach so allow plenty of extra travel time if travelling by rideshare or taxi.

Carparks at Bondi Beach will be closed for the event and on-street parking in Bondi is very limited so leave the car at home and catch public transport instead.

See our NYE Bondi Beach - road closure and clearway map (pdf 276KB) for details and, visit livetraffic.com for real time updates.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham.

On New Year’s Eve, metro services will run every 4 - 5 minutes through until New Year’s Day. Services then resume a 10-minute frequency on 1 January from first service.

Change at Martin Place or Central to connect with T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line trains to Bondi Junction then buses down to Bondi Beach.

For Metro service disruption information, check travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

The closest station to Bondi Beach is Bondi Junction on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line.

From Bondi Junction, catch a Route 333 bus to the beach. Return services will also run after the event.

If you are travelling from the City, trains to Bondi leave from:

  • Central Station, Platform 24
  • Town Hall Station, Platform 5

Alternatively, consider walking down to the beach from Bondi Junction via Bondi Road.

  • From the City/Bondi Junction: Route 333 buses run to Bondi Beach from the city via Darlinghurst, making stops on Elizabeth Street at key stations (including Martin Place, St James and Museum) and Bondi Junction.
  • To the City: after the event, Route 333 buses travelling towards the city via Darlinghurst will leave from the beach on Campbell Parade near Hall Street. Walk to the right when exiting the venue for access to bus stops.
  • From the Eastern Suburbs: catch Route 380 buses from Watsons Bay to Bondi Beach via Military Road.

For bus service disruption information, check travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Sydney Ferries are a great way to get around the city but services can be popular and may reach capacity, especially on NYE so allow extra travel time and consider the alternative transport options.

Due to NYE Harbour events, ferries will stop running on the harbour from 5.30pm so have an alternative plan in mind.

For ferry service disruption information, check travel alerts or plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
