Event Information
The Royal Australian Navy International Fleet Review will be held across Sydney Harbour on Saturday 21 March. The Exercise Kakadu Fleet Review 2026 will see the largest gathering of international warships on Sydney Harbour for more than a decade with up to 30 ships from 20 countries assembling in an impressive display of international sea power.
There are various vantage points available north and south of the harbour to see the navy vessels as they arrive, anchor and leave the harbour, throughout the day.
- Vantage points are located around Mosman and Manly in the north and Darling Point, Rose Bay, Vaucluse and Watsons Bay south of the harbour in the east. See vantage point listing below and official vantage point map here.
- Spectators should plan their trip and consider the public transport options as parking around many of the local vantage points is very limited. Clearways and local road closures will be in place at some locations - see the map (pdf 2.0MB) for details.
- A maritime exclusion zone will be in effect on Sydney Harbour from 6am Saturday 21 March until 12pm Sunday 22 March with speed and wash restrictions in place. See the maritime exclusion zone map for details and navy ship locations
- Ferries will run as normal across the harbour but may experience delays. Queues at wharves may be long so allow extra travel time and consider the alternative transport options. Be reminded you must alight the ferry at its final destination – no round trips permitted. Be patient and follow directions of staff
- Additional buses will run on key routes in the north and east to help you get to vantage points. See details below.
- You'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.
- If you want to drive, expect heavier than usual traffic approaching vantage points and plan ahead as parking options are limited. Allow extra travel time – you can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.
More ways to pay
If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.
M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Planned Trackwork – Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 March
- Metro services will not run along the entire line between Tallawong and Sydenham.
- Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only.
- Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham.
- For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern.
From the city connect with buses to the Eastern Suburbs. From Chatswood connect with buses to the north shore/northern beaches.

- M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line: metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. For travel to and from Waterloo use local buses or trains from Redfern. Use trains between Epping or Chatswood, the City and Sydenham
- T1 North Shore Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe, and between Homebush and the City only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. T1 Western and T2 Leppington trains run between Lidcombe and the City.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line: From 6.30am to 10.30am, trains run to a changed timetable and reduced frequency, every 30 minutes
- T9 Northern Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- Central Coast & Newcastle Line: From 5.30am to 10:30am, at Hawkesbury River and Cowan, all trains leave from platform 2. From 7am to 10.30am, trains towards Hornsby do not stop at Cowan. Buses run from Hawkesbury River to Cowan, and from Cowan to Berowra, in that direction only. Change at Hawkesbury River for a bus to Cowan. From Cowan, catch a bus to Berowra then change for a train to continue your journey. Trains towards Gosford continue to stop at Cowan. Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
- South Coast Line: Sydney Metro trackwork may affect how you travel.
Trackwork is carried out on an ongoing basis to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Sydney Trains network. Trackwork may affect how you travel so allow plenty of extra travel time and plan ahead. Plenty of buses run to vantage point locations across either side of the harbour. Plan your trip to your preferred vantage point using the Trip Planner. Additional services will run on key routes.
Key bus routes on the northern side of the harbour
- Route 100 City QVB to Taronga Zoo (loop services) will run to a regular Saturday timetable every 10 minutes
- Route 111 Chowder Bay to South Mosman Wharf services will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12pm to 4pm.
- Route 161 Manly to North Head (Loop service) will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12pm to 4pm.
- Route 162 Seaforth to Manly will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12pm to 4pm.
- Route 225 Neutral Bay to Cremorne Point will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12pm to 5pm.
- Route 228 Mosman to Clifton Island will run every 30 minutes between 10.30am and 4.30pm
- Route 230 Mosman Wharf to Milsons Point via North Sydney will run to a normal timetable
- Route 238 Balmore to Taronga Zoo will run additional services from 10.30am to 3.30pm every 10 minutes
Key bus routes on the southern side of the harbour
- Route 324 and 325 buses between the city and Watsons Bay/Vaucluse will run every 8 minutes between 11am and 4pm.
- Route 311 Central Belmore Park to City Millers Point will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12pm to 4pm.
- Route 328 Bondi Junction to Darling Point (Loop service) will run to an increased frequency every 30 minutes from 10am to 4pm
- Route 362 Rose Bay to Coogee will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 10am to 4pm.
- Route 380 Bondi Junction to Watson Bay will run to an increased frequency every 10 minutes from 10am to 5pm.
- Route 386 Vaucluse to Bondi Junction will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 10am to 5pm.
- Route 387 South Head Cemetery to Bondi Junction will run to an increased frequency every 15 minutes from 10am to 5pm.
- Route 441 Birchgrove to City Art Gallery will run to an increased frequency every 20 minutes from 10am to 5pm.
Some bus services may be impacted in local areas as NSW Police implement closures on roads near vantage points are crowd volumes increase. As a result, services will use alternative stops or terminate early. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Ferry services are a popular way to travel on weekends and may reach capacity during the event.
- Ferries will run as normal across the harbour but may experience delays.
- Queues are expected so allow plenty of extra travel time, be patient and follow the directions of ferry staff. Be aware you must alight the ferry at its final destination – no round trips permitted.
- Consider the alternative transport options available, including buses, trains and light rail services.

Exclusion zones
Exclusion zones will be in effect along the Harbour while the International Fleet Review is underway.
With a 6-knot speed limit from 6am until 8pm, allow extra time to travel between Sydney Harbour Bridge and South Head on Saturday 21 March.
Exclusion zones will be active, between 6am 21st March and 12pm 22nd March, marked by yellow buoys and official patrol vessels. A no stopping, drifting and anchoring applies between Garden Island and Point Piper and along the viewing route. At all times, vessels must remain 250 metres from any naval vessel.

- During this time there will be wash and speed restrictions including:
- No stopping/drifting or anchoring between Garden Island and Point Piper along the viewing route
- 250 metre minimal distance from any naval vessel
- 6 knot maximum speed & no wash restrictions: 6am – 8pm Saturday 21 March from Sydney Harbour Bridge to South Head

L1 Dulwich Hill Line
L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
At Central, connect with L2 or L3 Line light rail services to Town Hall or Wynyard to connect with buses to the east or north.
L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Connect with buses to the eastern suburbs from Hyde Park or connect with buses to the north from Wynyard.
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line
L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services run between Carlingford and Westmead via Parramatta CBD. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
At Central, connect with L2 or L3 Line light rail services to Town Hall or Wynyard to connect with buses to the east or north.

Exclusion zones

Safety in the water
With extra maritime traffic expected on the state’s waterways during the event, NSW Police and maritime authorities will be out in force to ensure operators of recreational and commercial vessels are compliant with maritime laws.
Before heading out, check the vessel is in good working order, and ensure all the required safety equipment – including lifejackets – is on board.
Skippers are reminded of their responsibility to ensure there is safety equipment on board their vessels and are responsible for the manner in which their vessel is driven.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads around harbour vantage points in the north and east as crowds gather to see the vessels.
If you must drive allow plenty of extra time and look at your parking options ahead of time – be aware local parking is very limited at most vantage points.
Road closures
In Mosman, Bradley's Head Rd will be closed at Athol Wharf Rd from 6am to 4pm. See the Road Closure and Clearway Map - Navy Fleet Review (pdf 2.0MB).
Clearways will be in effect in Watsons Bay and Woolloomooloo.
There are no planned road closures at other vantage points however NSW Police may implement closures on roads near vantage points if crowd volumes increase or traffic is too congested.

Parking
Street parking around vantage points is limited and a fee may apply. All available car park options can be found on the Wilson Parking, Secure Parking and City of Sydney – Transport & parking pages. Parking fees apply.

Special Event Clearways
Clearways will be in effect to support the event. Special event clearways are strict no parking zones, check signs carefully to avoid being towed. See the Road Closure and Clearway Map - Navy Fleet Review (pdf 2.0MB).
- Watsons Bay: Special event clearways will be in effect from 10am to 6pm Saturday 21 March on Military Road between Robertson Place and bus turning circle (north of Gap Road) western side, and Robertson Pl between Old South Head Rd and Military Rd northern side.
- Woolloomooloo: Special event clearways will be in effect from 6am Saturday 21 March to 6am Wednesday 25 March on Cowper Wharf Roadway western side between Dowling St and Wylde St
Clearways are strict no parking zones for all vehicle types, and apply even to local residents and businesses with parking permits or TfNSW Mobility Scheme permit holders. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.
